Take a look at photos from Theatre Peckham’s Parliamentary Reception, which we held at the House of Commons a couple of weeks ago as part of our 40th anniversary 🌟

We were joined by our valued patrons, partners and parliamentarians to celebrate the new Theatre Peckham Manifesto!

Between the captivating performances and words from Theatre Peckham’s own Polly Green Behkam and inspiring speeches from Miatta Fahnbulleh Anni Domingo Jenny Agutter Suzann McLean we had countless conversations about the importance of recognising hyper-local theatres and the role they play in giving young people somewhere to go, something meaningful to do, and routes that allow their talent to grow.

As we celebrate Black History Month with our Young Gifted and Black Festival, join us for a joyful gathering of Black brilliance. Our community coming together to honour legacy, uplift each other, and celebrate a future full of promise through words and rhythm.

Legacy After Dark - Produced by Legacy in Motion (30th October, Theatre Peckham)

Legacy After Dark is a flagship talent showcase created and produced by Legacy in Motion, led by Shakeil Edwards and Tyrese Walters. The event provides a professional platform for talented young black artists from across London to showcase their creativity in front of live audiences and industry professionals. Featuring exceptional performances in singing, rap, dance, and spoken word, Legacy After Dark celebrates the next generation of artists while creating opportunities for young people to build confidence, gain exposure, and develop their careers. The event is hosted by Wall of Entertainment member Steph not Steve.

In Her Eyes I’m a Good Man - Written by Mo Korede & Produced by Imagiphoria Productions (22nd-23rd October, Theatre Peckham)

In Her Eyes I’m a Good Man is a funny, heartfelt and emotionally charged new play about love, friendship and the relationships that shape us. Kay and Jay have been inseparable since childhood, but as romance, heartbreak and other people’s expectations begin to pull them in different directions, they are forced to ask whether a man and a woman can truly be “just friends.”

Before I Go: Marcel - Written by Tobi King Bakare (25th October, Theatre Peckham)

Marcel is doing life in jail. He’s a class clown who’s spent most of his life living for others and is desperate for another chance at life. When he is presented with new evidence that can exonerate him of his entire sentence, he is left split as it would require him to ’snitch’. Marcel spirals and goes on a deep journey inward in an attempt to free himself.

In My Head - Written by Kyra April (15th-16th October, Canada Water Theatre)

In My Head is a gripping psychological play that blurs the line between perception and reality, inviting audiences into the hidden battles we fight within ourselves. Through interconnected stories of love, loss, identity, trauma and hope, the production explores the silent thoughts that shape our choices and relationships. Raw, intimate and honest, it challenges stigma surrounding mental health while celebrating the resilience of the human spirit.

Don’t Write Me Off - Created by Martin Edwards & Actively SeeK.I.N.G (16th October, Theatre Peckham)

Don’t Write Me Off is an interactive forum theatre play for young people aged 13+. It follows a day in the life of Jubal, a talented Black teenager from London who dreams of becoming a professional musician and entrepreneur. However, before he can turn his ambitions into reality, he must navigate some of the greatest challenges of his life.

Alex Wheatle Witness Writing Project – Script Sharing – In Partnership with Theatre Peckham, Manchester Metropolitan University & Words of Colour (17th October, Canada Water Theatre)

Join us for the Alex Wheatle Witness Writing Project Script Sharing, a celebration of Young Black voices and the stories they are bringing to the stage. Developed through an intensive programme created by Manchester Metropolitan University, Words of Colour and Theatre Peckham, and led by Roy Alexander Weise and guest playwright Roy Williams OBE, these brand new scripts explore contemporary experiences. For one night only, extracts from each writer’s work will be performed by Theatre Peckham’s Young Peckham actors, offering audiences an exclusive first look at a new generation of playwrights.

Get ready for Week Two of Young, Gifted & Black 2026, starting 5th October!

No Photos – Created by Ryan Dre Sinclair (8th-9th October, Theatre Peckham)

No Photos is a spoken word show that explores social anxiety, self-image, and visibility through the lens of a man who never wants to be in the picture. Rooted in humour, rhyme, and storytelling, the show explores the inner life of a young man who avoids the camera at all costs. What starts as social anxiety slowly opens out into an exploration of memory, identity, masculinity, and what we inherit, emotionally and digitally, from the generations before us.

Greener Pastures – Written by Nana Adjoa Baidoe-Ansah (8th-9th October, Canada Water Theatre)

In 1983, Kukuwa leaves Ghana for London to live with her sister, Efua. Coming from a privileged background, she is shocked by the life Efua has built in the UK. London isn’t quite what Kukuwa imagined, and adjusting to her new reality brings tensions within the family. Kukuwa encounters new people and perspectives that make her question if moving was worth it.

X Marks the Spot - Written by Joy Kirigo (10th-11th October, Canada Water Theatre)

X Marks the Spot follows a teenage graffiti artist named X who one night, while on the run from the police, suffers a head injury that leaves him with memory loss. He embarks on a one night odyssey through gentrified Elephant and Castle, and on his way forms an unlikely friendship with a shopkeeper named Oscar who shares in his feelings of loss for their ever changing neighbourhood.

A Midsummer’s Night Dream - A Young Peckham Production (1st-3rd October, Theatre Peckham)

Set during Notting Hill Carnival season, this Young Peckham Production reimagines the Shakespearean classic with an unapologetic Black British lens. The production fuses the classical text with modern MLE, celebrating Black art, cultural authenticity, and the full, multifaceted brilliance of the talented cohort. It empowers young Black creatives to own classical stories on their own terms.

Her and the Voice in Her Head - Written by Lorraine Adeyefa (2nd-3rd October, Theatre Peckham)

Her and the Voice in Her Head is a solo performance following a woman in her mid-20s, known only as “Her,” in the aftermath of a recently ended situationship. Set in the emotional comedown of that relationship, the piece draws the audience into her internal world as she cycles through heartbreak, self-doubt, memory, and the first fragile steps toward healing.

A Collection of Conversations - Written by Munashe Danga (2nd-3rd October, Canada Water Theatre)

A Collection of Conversations follows the lives of three young Black women whilst at university. Through late-night conversations, laughter, disagreements, confessions and moments of vulnerability, they navigate friendship, identity, ambition, relationships and the uncertainty of becoming adults. A Collection of Conversations is a funny and heartwarming piece that highlights the beauty of Black sisterhood.
