Applications are now open for BCLA Fellowship!

As we celebrate 50 years of the BCLA, we're marking this milestone with an ambitious goal: welcoming 50 new Fellows for 50 years.

BCLA Fellowship is one of the Association's highest professional honours, recognising eye care professionals who have demonstrated advanced knowledge and made a significant contribution to contact lenses, anterior eye care, research, education or the wider profession.

Successful applicants will be formally admitted as Fellows at the 2027 BCLA Clinical Conference & Exhibition in Birmingham (19–20 June 2027), as part of our landmark 50th Anniversary Conference.

Today, our global Fellowship community includes more than 250 distinguished professionals. We'd love to see even more members recognised for the expertise, innovation and dedication they bring to the profession.

Nominations are now open for the Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture

Do you know an outstanding researcher making an impact in contact lenses and anterior eye care?

The Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture recognises a postgraduate researcher who has demonstrated excellence in clinical, basic or translational research in the field of contact lenses and/or the anterior eye.

The award is open to individuals who have completed a UK postgraduate degree, such as a PhD, clinical doctorate or MSc, within the last five years and have continued their research in private practice, hospital practice or academia.

The recipient will be honoured at the BCLA Clinical Conference & Exhibition, where they will present the prestigious Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture.

📢 We're delighted to announce that Dr Manbir Nagra PhD has been appointed as the new Chair of the BCLA following our Annual General Meeting.

As we enter our 50th anniversary year, we also welcome three new Council members: Dr Keyur Patel, Dr Sònia Travé-Huarte and Devan Lakhani.
