Racing can be a catalyst for change.

At E1, the world’s first all-electric powerboat championship, the action goes far beyond the racecourse. Alongside the competition, the championship is helping shine a spotlight on the future of our oceans, waterways and coastal communities.

From a charity awareness run highlighting the global water crisis, to a large-scale beach and sea cleanup in Dubrovnik, to conversations between world leaders, scientists, investors and conservationists about the future of the blue economy, E1 demonstrates what can happen when sport, innovation and environmental action come together.
This is exactly why 10% for the Ocean supports initiatives like these.

Protecting the ocean isn't the responsibility of governments, scientists or charities alone. It requires businesses, athletes, innovators, communities and individuals all playing a role. The challenges facing our ocean are interconnected, and the solutions must be too.
The ocean produces around half of the oxygen we breathe, regulates our climate, supports livelihoods, provides food security and underpins life on Earth. Yet it remains dramatically underfunded compared to the scale of the challenge.

That's why we created the 10% Pledge. By committing 10% of profits, sales or time to ocean-positive action, businesses and individuals can become part of a growing movement helping fund conservation, restoration, education and innovation where it's needed most.
Every pledge matters. Every action counts. Every contribution helps build a healthier future for our blue planet.

The question isn't whether we depend on the ocean. It's what we're willing to do to protect it.

The Innerview: An evening of ocean exploration, took place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Royal Geographical Society.

The ocean changes us when we truly enter it.

Not when we look at it from the shore. Not when we cross it. But when we immerse ourselves in it, experience its power, and connect with the life it holds beneath the surface.

This was the idea behind The Innerview, an inspiring evening of ocean exploration, storytelling and discovery that brought together some of the most influential voices working to deepen our understanding of the blue planet.

10% for the Ocean was proud to attend and support this important event alongside many of the organisations and individuals we work closely with. Events like these matter because protecting the ocean starts with connection. When people understand its importance, they are more likely to act on its behalf.

Across the world, scientists, explorers, conservationists, educators and innovators are dedicating their lives to safeguarding our ocean. We believe their work deserves support, amplification and investment. That's why we show up, collaborate and help champion the organisations driving real impact.

The challenges facing our ocean are too great for any one organisation to solve alone. Progress happens when communities, businesses, charities and individuals come together around a shared purpose.

If you've ever felt inspired by the ocean, now is the time to turn that inspiration into action.

Take the 10% Pledge and join a growing movement committed to funding and supporting ocean conservation, restoration, education and innovation.

Because the future of our ocean depends on all of us. On stage was Victor Vescovo, the explorer and submersible pilot who became the first person to reach the deepest point in all five oceans; Steve Backshall, BAFTA-winning naturalist and broadcaster best known for Deadly 60; Helen Czerski, physicist, oceanographer and BBC broadcaster and author of The Blue Machine; Paul Rose, explorer, diver and BBC broadcaster and former Base Commander at Rothera Research Station in Antarctica; and Dr Jyotika Virmani, physical oceanographer and Executive Director of the Schmidt Ocean Institute.

The ocean might feel distant to many of us, but it shapes our lives every single day.

The air you breathe? Around half of it comes from the ocean. The climate that determines our weather, food production and water security? Regulated by the ocean. The livelihoods of billions of people and the health of our planet? All connected to a thriving ocean.
Yet the ecosystems that make life on Earth possible are under increasing pressure.

This World Ocean Day, the focus is on creating strong Marine Protected Areas, places where marine life can recover, ecosystems can rebuild, and nature can do what it does best when given the chance.
World leaders have committed to protecting at least 30% of the ocean by 2030, including the vast High Seas that cover nearly half of Earth’s surface. Now we need action to match ambition.

At 10% for the Ocean, we exist because the ocean is one of the most important systems on Earth, yet receives less than 1% of global philanthropic funding. We bring together scientists, conservation leaders, philanthropists and frontline organisations to direct resources where they can deliver the greatest impact for ocean recovery.

Because protecting the ocean isn’t just about saving what lies beneath the surface. It’s about protecting the air we breathe, the food we eat, the climate we depend on and the future we all share.

The science tells us recovery is possible. What happens next depends on all of us.

Last week we screened Ocean with David Attenborough to a packed house at Everyman Cinema, and I had the privilege of interviewing the wonderful director Toby Nowlan live afterward.

An evening of inspiration, connection and ocean action.

Together with Six Senses London, we were proud to co-host a special screening and discussion that brought together conservationists, storytellers, advocates and changemakers united by a shared belief: a healthy ocean is essential to a healthy planet.

The film took us on an emotional journey — revealing both the challenges facing our ocean and the extraordinary reasons for hope. Stories of marine protection, community-led conservation and the power of safeguarding nature reminded us that meaningful change is possible when we choose to act.

Events like these matter. They create space for conversation, collaboration and new ideas, while connecting people who are working to protect the natural systems that sustain us all.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion. The energy, insight and commitment in the room was a powerful reminder that the movement for ocean protection is growing.

The ocean gives us so much. It's time we gave something back.

We talk a lot about protecting and restoring the ocean.
But we often forget to thank all it gives us. Here are a few things:

Around half the oxygen we breathe
Climate regulation
Carbon sequestration
Food for billions and livelihoods for millions
Fresh water through the water cycle
Proven benefits for mental health
The ocean supports all life on earth, ours included.

Everything we depend on relies on a healthy ocean.
Now we must ensure it returns to equilibrium.

For Ocean with David Attenborough, revealed one of the ocean’s most destructive hidden practices to the world.

Using pioneering underwater camera systems placed inside fishing nets and on the seabed itself, the team captured the first cinematic footage of bottom trawling in action beneath the surface.

What they witnessed was impossible to ignore.

The footage became one of the most powerful moments in the film, helping drive global conversations around ocean protection, marine ecosystems and the urgent need to safeguard the life beneath our seas. Healthy oceans are essential to all life on Earth — regulating our climate, supporting biodiversity and sustaining communities around the world.

Protecting the ocean means protecting our future.

Now go behind the scenes with the filmmakers who captured it.

The ocean’s future may depend on some of its smallest inhabitants.

We were honoured to attend the launch of The Power of Plankton by Vincent Doumeizel A compelling reminder that plankton are not only the foundation of marine ecosystems, but essential allies in regulating our climate, producing oxygen, and sustaining life on Earth.

Protecting the ocean starts with understanding the intricate systems that keep it alive. Sometimes the greatest impact begins with what we cannot even see.
