Postal Family Fund is now accepting applications for University Bursaries

Our popular University Bursary has now launched. Postal families can apply for a bursary to support a young person attending a university or equivalent institution in the UK. Bursaries are there to help students cover their expenses so they can concentrate on their studies. Bursaries are worth £2,100 per year for a maximum of three years. There are additional grants available for course materials and equipment (e.g. laptop, music software) for those going to university for the first time.

This financial assistance package is very popular, but we are only able to provide a limited number of awards. So, we ask that you read the eligibility criteria before applying and that you take your time completing the application. Applications are open until July 15th.

Help us to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week. Apply for a Postal Family Fund Apprenticeship bursary to support your child as they learn ‘Skills for Life’

Is your child undertaking an apprenticeship? If yes, they may be eligible for support. Our Apprenticeship bursary for young people aged 21 years and under is open for 2026. We provide financial support to cover apprenticeship expenses such as travel costs and specialist equipment required for work. You can apply via our website.

Please note that this is not related to the Royal Mail Apprenticeship scheme. Last year we supported apprentices on their journeys to become hairdressers, car mechanics, electricians, early years practitioners and much more. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award bursary is open for applications

Postal Family Fund’s support package is available to children from postal families aged 14-18 who have signed up for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Bursaries are awarded to cover equipment costs for expeditions or to cover the costs of the residential section of the Gold Award.

Postal Family Fund’s Rising Stars bursary is now open for applications

The bursary is available to postal families with children (under 18) who have a special talent or passion in the arts, music, sport or other specialist area. It may be that you need financial support with equipment, travel or dedicated coaching. Applications open for Postal Family Fund’s new Home Laptop Grant Scheme

Postal Family Fund are delighted to launch their new Home Laptop Grant scheme. This grant helps postal families to support their children with their secondary school learning. This bursary is intended for families with children in Year 7 to 11 (aged 11-16 years old) who cannot afford a home learning device and are currently receiving benefits. A laptop will be issued to the family if the application is successful and is capped at one per household. Postal Family Fund has spent £590,000 supporting postal families in 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, Postal Family Fund is proud to have supported over 440 children at different times during the year with a record amount of charitable spend. At the end of this year, we are currently helping 48 families with family support grants and discretionary support, 224 university students with their studies, 9 apprentices as they undergo their on-the-job training and 57 ‘Rising Star’ children with their talents and passions outside of school.

Thank you to the Post Office Remembrance Fellowship for their generous donation of £35,000 to the Postal Family Fund

The Postal Family Fund is delighted to receive another year of support from the Post Office Remembrance Fellowship (PORF). Their donation will be specifically used to help fund our Rising Star bursaries. Our Rising Stars bursaries are aimed at postal families with children (under the age of 18) where the child has a special talent or passion in the arts (art, music, performance, literature), sport or other specialist area and the families need help with the associated costs. We are on track to support over 50 children with their talents and passions this year. Thank you PORF for making this possible.
