WE’RE LOOKING FOR DENTISTS & DENTAL STUDENTS TO VOLUNTEER AS INTERVIEWERS! 👀

Our 9th AND 10th Mock MMI is coming up and we’re doing something different this year! 🎉

For the first time, Budding Black Dentists Network CIC will be hosting an in-person Mock Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) event to help aspiring dentists prepare for their dental school interviews!

Over the years, our Mock MMIs have helped aspiring dentists build their confidence, practise their interview skills and receive valuable feedback from dental professionals.

To mark our 10th Mock MMI event, we’re excited to bring this experience to an in-person setting!

We’re looking for volunteers to support either (or both!) of our upcoming events:

💻 Virtual Mock MMI (Zoom)
📅 Saturday 7th November 2026
⏰ 9am – 1pm

📍 In-Person Mock MMI
📅 Saturday 5th December 2026
⏰ 9am – 3pm
🏫 Dartford Grammar School, West Hill, Dartford, Kent, DA1 2HW

Whether you’ve volunteered with us before or this would be your first time, we’d love to have you involved!

This is an opportunity to share your experience, develop your communication skills and, most importantly, help the next generation of dentists.

We’re incredibly proud of what we achieved together. A huge thank you to the team for making it happen! 🫶🏾

A huge thank you to our incredible conference panellists! 💙

At Budding Black Dentists, we know how much representation matters. That’s why, at our Specialties in Dentistry Conference, we were proud to bring together 8 Black dental specialists from across the profession to share their journeys, experiences and advice with our delegates.

Our panellists helped make the different career pathways within dentistry feel that little bit more visible, relatable and tangible.
A huge thank you to each of them for giving their time, answering our delegates’ questions so openly and, most importantly, showing the next generation what is possible. 🙌🏾

Highlights from our recent conference 🤩

On Saturday 18th July 2026, over 100 aspiring dentists, dental students and dentists joined us at at the Royal College of Surgeons building for our Specialties in Dentistry Conference.

The day was designed to make specialty training more tangible. The day included:
- Panel discussions with eight Black dental specialists
- Hands-on workshops across multiple specialties
- Networking with peers and clinicians
- Talks on financial planning, technology & innovation, and mental health & wellbeing

This conference was shaped by our community. After surveying Black dental students and dentists, we found that 66.6% didn’t feel informed enough about specialty training, and 66.6% said representation would influence their decision to pursue it.

Everything about the day was intentionally designed to respond to these findings.

A huge thank you to our amazing sponsors for helping turn this vision into a reality - , and .

Thank you to , , , , , , .temi.endo for supporting and facilitating our workshops.

We also thank our incredible panellists for openly sharing their journeys with us, our volunteers and every delegate who helped make this event such a success as well as for gifting us the library space! 😄

This may have been our first conference, but it certainly won’t be our last!

A huge THANK YOU to our main sponsor, Bupa Dental Care, for supporting our inaugural Specialties in Dentistry Conference! 💙🦷

From the early stages of planning, Bupa Dental Care believed in our vision to create an event that would increase exposure to the different pathways within dentistry, provide access to hands-on learning and connect the next generation of dental professionals with inspiring clinicians.

Their support played an important part in helping us bring that vision to life and deliver an unforgettable day for over 100 aspiring dentists, dental students and dental professionals at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

We’re incredibly grateful to have organisations like Bupa Dental Care invest in the work we’re doing and support our mission to equip, educate and empower the next generation.

✨WE INVITED 17 ASPIRING DENTISTS TO VOLUNTEER AT OUR CONFERENCE ✨

At Budding Black Dentists, supporting the next generation of dentists starts before dental school.

That’s why we intentionally opened up volunteering opportunities at our Specialties in Dentistry Conference to aspiring dentists, giving them the chance to spend the day surrounded by dental students, dentists and specialists at different stages of their careers.

Alongside helping us bring the conference to life, our volunteers were able to gain exposure to different areas of dentistry, build their networks and experience a side of dentistry they may not get to see through work experience.

Here’s what a few of our aspiring dentist volunteers had to say about their experience on the day.

A huge thank you to all 17 of our volunteers who gave their time and energy to support the conference. We hope to see you on the other side of dental school applications! 🫶🏾
