Yesterday saw people all around the world mark World Homeless Day, a vital day for raising awareness while working to prevent and end homeless but the plight of unhoused individuals didn't expire when the clock struck midnight. When the hashtags diminish - the struggle remains.

At Greenwich Homeless Project our commitment continues ALL YEAR ROUND, offering true solidarity to Day Centre guests and those offered a room with us while we help them secure a place of their own... every month of the year. It takes time, it requires stability and it takes a whole community to offer hope long after the 24 hr trend ends.

Since October last year 58 people have been helped into their own accommodation and with our Winter season approaching your continued support is literally changing lives.

On the eve of World Homeless Day we are incredibly proud to officially welcome as our first Corporate Partner. This exciting new collaboration brings the housing and homelessness sectors closer together, to strengthen the positive outcome of the individuals we both support.

🐣From the moment Harjot and Debbie arrived in April gifting Easter Eggs for our guests we knew we had met a business which prides itself on family values, compassion and care for those facing homelessness. 🍁 OCTOBER is an important and special time for Greenwich Homeless Project as we celebrate the compassion of our local community and the resilience of those we serve via various events throughout the month.🍁

Today, we begin with Homeless Sunday, where faith communities all across the country are remembering those in need through prayer, volunteering, advocacy and almsgiving.

has come such a long way since our founding churches set up the Greenwich Winter Night Shelter, providing warmth, shelter and food to those experiencing homelessness in Greenwich and today we offer our thanks and gratitude to them for their compassion, empathy and continued services to our community 🙏

Fast forward to today and their legacy is thriving at our permanent home in Middle Park, Eltham !

🛌🏻14 individual rooms offering ALL YEAR ROUND temporary accommodation
🍽 a wonderful day centre providing food, laundry, showers and advocacy
🌳a beautiful garden giving a calm and serene place to rest
🏠Together, this year we have ALL helped 56 people settle into their own home,

As we move towards winter, the support of our community via Volunteering and Almsgiving remain the most powerful ways you can helps us continue serving those in crisis and guide them towards a happier and brighter life of hope.

🛏️ Single bed mattress
We’re looking for spare single mattresses in good condition to help provide comfortable accommodation for people experiencing homelessness.

💻 One laptop
We’re also looking for one good-condition laptop for our team to use to support our day-to-day work and help us provide services to our clients.

Big shout out to a wonderful group of teachers from Harris Academy Greenwich Harris Academy Greenwich who are doing an amazing thing this Saturday 3rd Oct by taking part in an exciting endurance event in Finsbury Park where two teams of 4 will see how many 2.5km laps they can complete in 4hrs! - all to raise funds for those experiencing homelessness in and around Greenwich. Good luck runners!

This Saturday 3rd October is COMMUNITY VOTING DAY, where you get the chance to vote on which Health and Wellbeing projects receive funding from the Livewellgreenwich.org.uk

Come and hear about our Homeless Project Time Together project as we pitch for £1,000 to help us fund a series of 🧘‍♀️Yoga and 🎶Music wellbeing sessions to give our guests a chance to reduce stress and anxiety, improve physical wellbeing, build confidence and feel part of a community again.

We’re really pleased to share some exciting news at Greenwich Homeless Project.

We’ve been awarded funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s Ending Homelessness in Communities Fund (EHCF).

This funding will help us strengthen our partnership with immigration services, making sure people who are facing both homelessness and complex immigration challenges get the right support, guidance and stability.

It also means we can welcome an additional Learning & Skills Coordinator to our team. This role will help our guests access education, training, volunteering and employment opportunities — creating real pathways for people to move forward with confidence.

A huge step forward for our organisation and the community we serve.
