Bluecoat Display Cent

re is a nationally and internationally recognised contemporary craft and design gallery that has been established since 1959. We sell, exhibit and promote over 350 selected contemporary craftspeople each year working in a broad variety of media. The Bluecoat Display Centre is a registered charity within Arts and Culture. Our mission is to promote excellence in design and workmanship within the contemporary applied arts both nationally and internationally. We aim to increase the publics awareness and appreciation for the work of leading and emerging artists through exhibition, education, display and sale, and consequently to support the contemporary craft infrastructure. Bluecoat Display Centre welcomes enquiries from organisations regarding charitable giving who empathise with these objects, and has many sponsorship opportunities connected to the exhibition and workshop programme.

Really inspiring to see the work of BA (Hons) Textiles and Surface Design students at Greater Manchester University, a brilliant collaboration with Gawthorpe Textiles Collection and Surface Print Ltd.

Drawing on the Gawthorpe archives, the students presented a strong mix of design-led textiles and bold wallcovering concepts.

An inspring, thoughtful, and exciting showcase of emerging talent.

Just been to see 'The Sacred Memory Bank' at Kirby Gallery, it was fabulous.

Liverpool artists and .26 turn everyday objects, lost fragments, texts and collage into powerful little portals through time. Each assemblage feels like a piece of physical poetry, memories, symbols and curios woven together to remind us who we were… and who we’re becoming.

If you’re anywhere near it, go see it before it closes on Friday 27th March 2026.

In The Window March 2026 is our Hope University Showcase Award featuring Erin Eaves! Erin graduated from Liverpool Hope University in July 2025. Her final degree show showcased a collection of silk screen-printed garments in striking reds and silver, inspired by her Chinese heritage and her grandmothers memories growing up in 1960s Liverpool. Alongside the garments, she created a cold, hooper copper necklace through experimentation with traditional media. In October 2024 British Vogue featured her work in the Vogue X BMW Future Creators project. Her sleek silver neck piece, crafted from recycled aluminium cans and reclaimed ring pulls, reflects her commitment to sustainability. Come and view the window throughout March ⭐️

We’re delighted to partner with Greater Manchester University to showcase the work of three 2025 Textiles & Surface Design graduates.

Sarah Boon – exploring the tactile, sensory beauty of nature through embroidery, fabric manipulation & hot textiles.

Azel Davies – inspired by foraged materials & childhood collections of pottery shards, layering hand-dyed fabrics with meditative stitch.

Isobel Nethercoat – ‘Reflections & Refractions’ captures the dance of light and water through sheer fabrics, digital embroidery & embellishment.
