Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton was delighted to showcase our volunteer befriending opportunities alongside other fantastic organisations at the Volunteering for Health stall during Stanley Community Market on 3rd June.

It was wonderful to meet so many people interested in giving back to their community and learning more about how our volunteers provide vital older adult support. 😊

As a Liverpool charity, we know that a friendly chat and regular companionship can make a real difference to someone experiencing loneliness.

“Research shows that Meeting Centres support wellbeing, social connection, and coping for people living with dementia, while also reducing stress and isolation for family carers.” 💛

Dr Elaine McNeill, Project Manager and Arts-Based Researcher, has supported the launch and growth of Liverpool’s first Meeting Centre since 2023.

Thanks to Dementia Liverpool's partnership with Age Concern, we’re proud to now bring this welcoming, supportive space into Liverpool city centre—offering meaningful activities, companionship, and dedicated dementia support each week.

For Volunteers’ Week, we were delighted to send handmade thank you cards to our wonderful volunteers.

The cards were beautifully decorated by our clients during an activity session led by Indi, our Activities Coordinator 🎨✨

It was a small way to show our appreciation for the time, kindness and dedication our volunteers give to supporting older people in our community.

As a Liverpool charity, we know that the vital older adult support we provide wouldn’t be possible without you.

Our clients had a guided tour with Lindsey of the University of Liverpool's Archaeology museum.
Tucked away in a leafy corner on Abercromby Square, this small but fascinating museum is home to some beautiful ancient artefacts from Egypt, Sudan and the Near East.
