💚 World Mental Health Day | There is light in my life now.

Sometimes, having someone who listens, understands and shows compassion can make a real difference.

One person supported by our Combat Isolation Service shared these heartfelt words about their experience:

“Sue has an exceptionally good nature. She is compassionate, empathetic and very friendly… There is light in my life now.” 💙

This is why our Combat Isolation team does what they do.

Our service provides short-term, one-to-one support for adults aged 50 and over who are living with a mental health diagnosis and are open to a community mental health team.

Through conversation, companionship and encouragement, we help people build confidence, increase independence and feel less alone.

This World Mental Health Day, we're celebrating the power of human connection and the difference being there for someone can make.

💚 Because everyone deserves to feel heard, supported and hopeful.

🪂 You did WHAT at 82?!

Four years ago, at the age of 82, one of our clients decided to jump out of a plane! 😲

But his parachute jump is just one of the many stories that make him who he is.

Because there isn’t one way to be older. ❤️

Older people have passions, ambitions, adventures, achievements and plenty of stories still to tell. And we want to celebrate the people behind the numbers, not define them by their age.

Because of International Day of Older Persons, we’re celebrating the incredible lives, experiences and personalities of older people across Liverpool and Sefton. 🎉

There isn’t one way to be older. ❤️

Behind every statistic is a person with a lifetime of experiences, achievements, interests, relationships and stories to tell.

New research from the Centre for Ageing Better highlights the very different experiences of people in their 60s today. Around 1.8 million people aged 60–69 are living in financially precarious circumstances – but a statistic can never tell us everything about the person behind it.

That’s why, this International Day of Older Persons, we’re choosing to celebrate the people behind the numbers.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing stories from the older people, volunteers and staff who make our community what it is. We will be celebrating their lives, their experiences and the connections that matter.

Because getting older doesn’t mean becoming invisible.

Everyone deserves to feel valued, connected and part of their community.
