Is your name on your electricity bill? 👀

No, really, it’s worth checking if you receive Universal Credit, Pension Credit or certain other benefits. You could be in line for £150 off your electricity bill this winter through the Warm Home Discount.

🗓️ But here's the important bit: your name needs to be on the electricity account by 23 August for the discount to be applied automatically if you qualify.

It only takes a couple of minutes to check, and it could save you £150. 🧡

If you’ve moved recently, it’s especially important to make sure your name is listed, as it's one of the most common reasons people miss out.

It's due to be hot again throughout this week, so it's important to take care of yourself and those around you.

See tips from St Helens Borough Council below, and found out more about:
🌡 Coping in hot weather (NHS): https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/seasonal-health/heatwave-how-to-cope-in-hot-weather/
☀ Your local forecast: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/

Things are heating up in St Helens borough again this week, with temperatures set to reach 28°C tomorrow and climb as high as 33°C on Thursday.

While many of us will enjoy the sunshine, high temperatures can pose serious health risks, including dehydration, overheating, heat exhaustion and, in severe cases, heatstroke.

Hot weather can affect anyone, but some people are particularly vulnerable, including:

☀️ Older people and young children
☀️ People with long-term health conditions
☀️ Those who live alone or need extra support

Please take a few moments to check in on neighbours, friends and family members, especially anyone who may be more vulnerable, to make sure they have what they need to stay safe and keep cool.

Top tips for staying safe in the heat:

💧 Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated
🧴 Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen regularly
👒 Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and a hat, and seek shade
🏠 Keep your home cool by closing curtains and blinds
🌡️ Avoid being outdoors during the hottest part of the day (11am to 3pm)
🚿 Cool down with cold drinks, cool showers or a damp cloth on your skin
