We’ve signed the MNWB Seafarer Pledge! 📜💙⚓

Seafarers are too often overlooked when it comes to welfare. While companies are legal obligated to ensure good working conditions, the Merchant Navy Welfare Board’s Seafarer Pledge fills a vital gap, ensuring seafarers are valued, visible, and supported as human beings, both on board and on leave ashore.

At Liverpool Seafarers Centre, taking this pledge is a reflection of everything we do daily across Merseyside's docks.

Let’s stand united in supporting crew welfare. 🌊

💙⚓ When the crew of the MV Asian Pride docked in Liverpool, they were thousands of miles away from home, navigating long periods of isolation, fatigue, and the pressures of life at sea.

Our team at Liverpool Seafarers Centre provided what we always aim to offer every visiting crew: complimentary shore transport, fresh food, essential supplies, and a warm, welcoming space to rest.

What happened next humbled us. Recognising the effort and financial reality of running our charity for international seafarers, Captain Hong Bo and his entire crew came together and donated directly from their own pockets to support our work.

For a crew earning modest wages far from home to give back to us is incredibly humbling —and a poignant reminder of why seafarer welfare needs greater industry support.

Every single donation helps us keep our doors open and our minibuses running for the 21,500+ seafarers who rely on us each year.

A heartfelt thank you to Captain Hong Bo and the generous crew of MV Asian Pride. Fair winds, smooth seas, and safe sailing! 🚢✨

When the MV Eugenia B docked at Alexandria 3, the crew had been at sea for weeks, navigating long hours, isolation, and distance from their families.

During their stay, our team stepped in to offer what we strive to deliver every single day: a warm welcome, practical support, and a chance to unwind. From delivering onboard Wi-Fi so crew members could video-call their families back home, to arranging free transport for essential shopping trips, our goal was simple—make sure they felt seen, valued, and cared for.

We received a lovely message from Master Captain Philip C. Callejo. Comments like these remind us why we do what we do.

Thank you to Captain Callejo and the crew of MV Eugenia B for your kind words 🚢✨

When the Gem Star called into Liverpool last week, the Bosun and crew surprised us with an incredible handmade gift: a custom outdoor bench crafted entirely from upcycled pallets onboard! 🚢🪑

Watching them rig up the apparatus to lower it down the side of the ship to the quay was a tense moment... but it made the landing safely! 😅⚓

It’s now sitting happily in our courtyard, ready to rest weary feet for visiting seafarers and our volunteers alike.

Thank you to the brilliant crew of Gem Star for leaving such a thoughtful mark on our Centre! 💙

⚓ Think we only support massive container ships and bulk carriers? Think again! ⛵

Meet the Spirit of Falmouth—a stunning, Liverpool-built 2/3-sized schooner with a rich 40-year history. Older locals might even remember her under her original name, the Spirit of Liverpool!

Today, this beautiful vessel is owned and operated by a fantastic military veterans' charity, sailing all the way around the UK to support former service members. She recently sailed back into Liverpool to pick up a fresh group of veterans for their next voyage.

When they needed a hand getting water and essential supplies from Asda to get shipshape and ready to sail, our team was delighted to step in and help. 🚙💧

From 300-metre cargo ships to historic wooden schooners supporting our veterans, if you're on the water and call into Liverpool, we’ve got your back. 💙
