We were delighted to provide transport into town for the all-Vietnamese crew of the MV Tomini Sakura, in port discharging steel coil.

It was great to welcome some karaoke fans who visited our seafarers centre from MSC Carpathia III. 🎤⚓🎶✨

It was their first ever call to Liverpool and I think they’re looking forward to coming back again in future, but first they’ll be heading to Greenock - Le Havre - Antwerp and back to Liverpool. 🚢

After weeks at sea looking at nothing but open ocean, steel decks, and endless horizons, reconnecting with living nature can feel like a breath of fresh air. It’s a simple pleasure, but moments like these bring instant calm and uplift spirits after a long transit.

We are delighted to announce that Liverpool Seafarers Centre has been named a finalist for the Social Impact Award at the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards 2026! 🏆💙⚓

This nomination is a testament to the power of community. Over the past year, our team and volunteers covered over 65,000 miles across the Port of Liverpool, Garston, Birkenhead, and the Manchester Ship Canal, conducting 2,200 ship visits and supporting more than 21,500 international seafarers.

From distributing 4,800+ SIM cards to reconnect crew with their families, to delivering fresh supermarket provisions through our "Surplus Food to Seafarer" initiative, this recognition belongs to our local associate organisations, generous supporters, and incredible volunteers who ensure visiting mariners always have a safe, comfortable, and welcoming "home away from home."

Being recognised alongside so many outstanding maritime organisations across Merseyside is an honour, and we extend our gratitude to everyone who supports our mission. 💙

While discussions on World Maritime Day often focus on technology, sustainability, and maritime innovation, Liverpool Seafarers Centre is here to highlight the engine that makes it all possible: the 1.89 million international seafarers working at sea.

From navigating harsh weather and extended isolation to keeping global supply chains moving through complex challenges, seafarers are the human heart of shipping. Sustainable, safe, and efficient trade simply cannot happen without prioritising their mental health, well-being, and dignity.

Across Merseyside's docks, we support 21,500 seafarers annually - delivering zero-barrier welfare care, ship visits, free transport, and digital connection to loved ones.

Today, we join the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the wider maritime community in calling for a safer, fairer, and more human-centered industry.

Through our partnership with local suppliers and FareShare, we collect fresh, high-quality surplus provisions daily. We package them into wholesome care parcels and deliver them straight to ship decks across Merseyside.

It’s a win for sustainable sourcing, a win for the environment, and a huge boost for seafarers' well-being. 💙✨
