What a beautiful celebration of culture, community, and connection. Dances of Diaspora! brought together communities from across Bristol for a joyful celebration of movement, heritage, and shared experience at the RWA Gallery.
Produced in partnership with Diverse Artists Network and RWA, the event transformed the gallery into a vibrant space full of dance, music, participation, and cultural exchange.
From Colombian folk dance and Tibetan traditional dance to Jamaican Junglist movement, Turkish finger cymbals, and the powerful collective ‘Unity Dance’, the day highlighted dance traditions that are so often underrepresented in major cultural spaces.
One of the most special parts of the event? Many participants and audience members had never visited the RWA before. 🧡 Seeing communities dancing throughout the gallery, in between the Dance Out exhibition artworks, created such a unique atmosphere of creativity, connection, and joy.
Movema were proud to support the event as producers and delivery partners, bringing our experience of community-centred cultural events and diverse dance practices into the project.
