so so so happy to see this launching today! many of us for years have been campaigning/protesting/begging for years to be able to put permanent dedications to our most loved music heritage spots, and to see them up at long last is a beautiful thing.

Introducing the ''Liverpool Music City Heritage Trail.''

Today is the launch of something very special and highly anticipated.
Created by a team made up of many local legends, including The Beatles Legacy Group, Liverpool Music City and many more Liverpool music creatives, the “Liverpool Music Heritage Trail” pays tribute to the venues and music hubs that made us into the world famous music city that we were, that we are, and will continue to be.

the trail includes our heritage hotspots such as The State, Cavern Club, Lomax, Erics, Probe, Cream, The Picket, Sink & more.

For more details and how to access to trail, here’s everything you need to know - liverpoolmusiccity.com/liverpool-music-heritage-trail/

“LIVERPOOL MUSIC HERITAGE TRAIL

Welcome to our music trail. A whistle stop tour through sixty years of Liverpool music, from 1957 to 2016.
The city’s relationship with music is deep rooted. And we’re pretty good at it too. The trail celebrates and explores just some of the places, sounds, stories and people that are embedded into our proud musical heritage, our psyche and personality.
Liverpool is a port city. The River Mersey is central to the city’s identity. It has shaped everything; from the communities that have settled here, the ambience and our attitude to life. Music is at the heart of that. The city’s great maritime age was between the mid-19th century and the inter war years. The built environment we see today is a legacy of that global influence and has a huge impact on the story of music in the city too.
Music scenes move quickly. We’ve selected twelve locations that have all bitten the dust but were shape shifters and disrupters: from grassroots, underground scenes to global phenomena.

Taking The Tourďż˝
Each location is identified with a Liverpool Music Heritage Trail plaque – you can’t miss them. Scan the QR code on the plaque for a short film clip about the location*.”

SEND US YOUR GIGS, RELEASES, TOUR DETAILS, ARTWORK, ARTIST PROFILES, VENUE PROFILES, ALL OF IT.

We have done a lot to support our music communities over the years, and we'll aim to do that for as long as possible. Whilst our plans as LiveLiverpool, to host and financially back fellow promoter-partners in crime, have had to take a back seat for now, LiveLiverpool is still involved in a lot of really cool projects with like minded others.
Whilst we're dealing with certain setbacks, we'll do what we can, and having pretty decent sized audiences across our many brands/platforms/partners seems like a waste if we're not utilising that for our fave and future fave artists and venues.

So, we're offering this to everyone, located in Liverpool; artists/venues/promoters/festivals/podcasts/photographers/reviewers/ANYONE who aligns with our ethos.

All we ask is you email the following details to [email protected], we'll send you a questionnaire, and we can go from there 🤓
- name, category, genre (if applicable)
- links to socials/releases/websites
- graphics (logos or posters)

We start from Monday 23rd, and there's already a waiting list, so get your details sent over ASAP to get your spot.

(We do not charge, and we will never charge for sharing or creating your content.
But shares, and interactions on posts help us continue to do what we do. Same goes for your artist/venue/promoters profiles. Interactions are basically now a form of currency...)

Music Venue Trust 🤝 Liverpool City Council

“Music Venue Trust is delighted to be partnering with Liverpool City Council to deliver a programme that offers meaningful support to Grassroots Music Venues and celebrates Liverpool’s decade as a UNESCO City of Music.

Grassroots music is threaded through the history and heart of Liverpool, and the city's reputation as a pre-eminent music metropolis hinges on a network of extraordinary music venues. These cultural cornerstones are where emerging artists flourish, communities are enriched, and scintillating scenes are born.

This programme of support not only addresses head-on some of the challenges faced by Grassroots Music Venues by offering practical business development assistance and financial support, it also underscores the city's resolve to invest in their future.”

To add another nail in the coffin, it’s been confirmed that the building’s new business venture is going to be called “McNastys.” And no, this is not a joke and I’m just as horrified as everyone else.

here’s what The Zanzi has been reduced to.

Another incredible grassroots venue that has been a cornerstone of Liverpools music history for many years, that has had its soul bought out by the highest commercial bidder and will now be just another generic soulless gaff selling the same soulless old experience you’ll find on every corner.

A tragic state of affairs and a real loss to our community and the country’s music scene.
We can’t let this continue.

RIP Zanzi, you’ll be truly missed.

It’s not camping season right now in the UK but for many in our city they will be sleeping out on the streets tonight and with temperatures dropping close to below Zero.
We are again (we’ve never stopped) running a sleeping bag campaign along with to help those who are sleeping rough.
We are asking anyone who may have a spare sleeping bag or plans on upgrading this year if you could donate this to us, so we can pass out around the city to those in desperate need of support.
Sleeping pods also welcome along with any warm items of clothing (thermals, Hats, gloves) and drop off to our Woolton Road shop so we can get these distributed.
Thank you
Tony
