Another busy week for the HAF culture club. The children went to visit the Minton Tiles yesterday, and today, we did some batik. And the CYP loved it and many have done some great patterns/drawing.

Congratulation to Jenna.

Jenna started learning the guzheng with me around 2021/22. I still remember the little girl who cried before performing at our Autumn Festival and insisted that I sit beside her while she played. ❤️

Since winning her first Gold Award at the UK Music@e-Contest in 2023, she has gone from strength to strength.

Earlier this year, Jenna won Gold Award and Overall Champion at the Hong Kong International Chinese Music Competition. Now she has done it again — winning Gold Award and Overall Champion in the Junior Secondary category at the 2026 Chinese Culture Festival International Chinese Music Contest, representing Europe.

From a nervous little girl who needed me beside her to perform, to a confident young musician winning internationally — what a journey!

So proud of you, Jenna! Keep enjoying your music and keep going! 🎶❤️

A wonderful Open Day at Pagoda Arts! 🎶❤️

Children and families enjoyed live performances, discovering traditional Chinese instruments and having a go themselves, alongside lots of creative arts and crafts.

A lovely day of music, culture, creativity and learning together — with our young musicians helping to lead and share their skills with the next generation.

Looking back 7–8 years… and seeing how much they have grown! ❤️

Seven or eight years ago, we were taking these children on all kinds of adventures — from outdoor activities and camping to exploring Chinese and Western culture.

One summer, we used the planets and the night sky as our theme, discovering how Chinese and Western cultures understood and named the planets, and exploring the music, stories and legends connected with them. Another summer took the children outdoors, where they learned camping and basic survival skills — including the unforgettable experience of trying insects as survival food! 🏕️🦗🌍✨

Looking back at these old memories now is very special. Those little children have grown into teenagers and young adults, and many have stayed with us through the years as members of the Pagoda Chinese Youth Orchestra.

Today, some of them are becoming our young teachers, sharing their music, skills and culture with the younger children who are following in their footsteps.

From little learners to young musicians and leaders — growing up together, while passing our culture on to the next generation. ❤️

Martin Mere has changed so much since our last visit and is now a fantastic day out for all ages. The children enjoyed exploring the wetlands and spotting wildlife, while our Tai Chi group found a peaceful spot to practise qigong in the fresh air.

Everyone had a wonderful day—even if most of the children fell asleep on the coach home! 😊
