NICE is looking for people with experience of chronic low back pain, and family members or carers, to help inform our evaluation of neurostimulation of the lumbar multifidus muscles for refractory chronic low back pain with lumbar multifidus dysfunction. [final-scope-3] (opens in new window)
This procedure involves implanting a small device that stimulates nerves controlling muscles that help support the spine. The aim is to reduce pain and improve function and quality of life.
We would like to hear about:
- The impact of chronic low back pain on daily life, work and wellbeing.
- Experiences of treatments and support received.
- Challenges when pain does not respond to existing treatments.
- What outcomes matter most, such as pain relief, mobility, independence and quality of life.
Your experiences will help NICE understand what matters most to people living with this condition and ensure patient perspectives are considered alongside the clinical evidence.
Please complete this form if you would like to be considered for involvement in this topic. Closing date 15 September 2026.
