It is with sadness we share news of the death of Jean Lady Wilson, OBE, FRCOphth (Hon) – IMPACT’s Honorary President – who passed away peacefully on 5th January 2026, aged 103.

Lady Wilson was a visionary humanitarian and lifelong advocate for the prevention of needless disability, founding IMPACT UK alongside her late husband Sir John Wilson, and their daughter, Claire Hicks MBE in 1985.

Paying tribute, IMPACT UK’s Chair, Dr Brenda Luck, said: “Jean played a central role in shaping IMPACT and leaves an extraordinary legacy.”
