Community Veterans Support

09/10/2026

Great and very busy week once again here at the Centre. Across the board - delighted to host Lisa of RAF Benevolent Fund and her monthly clinic for RAF Veterans.

A stonking visit to the ongoing build of HMS Cardiff courtesy of and hosted by BAE Systems.

Dr Zubir Ahmed MP ran The Great Scottish run for 5 designated charities, ourselves included! Thank you Dr Z and Jimmy G still has a pool cue waiting…

…all of course wrapped up in 360 support for veterans and their families, a free hot lunch Monday to Friday, free clothes washing and drying, and the kind of banter and friendship you experienced in uniform. Come join us - no awkward questions, no wrong doors.

Have a great weekend and see you all on Monday.

Outstanding day for CVS away team yesterday on our visit to HMS Cardiff currently being fitted out in dock BAE Systems in Scotstoun. It was astounding to get onboard and see first hand how a state of the art warship is conceived, developed and built. Huge thanks for Jess for arranging our visit and to Alistair and Andy our guides throughout our tour.

Heads Up... Hot dogs n' popcorn

Been a bouncing week in the Centre as ever running the usual gamut of great food and brutal banter. One of our brand new Board Members Sharon Pickering dropped in on a flying visit to ginger up the troops. Welcome aboard Sharon.

Another highlight being that we took possession of our new(er)9 seater minibus courtesy of ABF Scotland and Andy Kyle of AK Vehicle Rentals. More of that next week. A wee look ahead. Now that the nights are drawing in we will be holding a monthly Monday Matinee movie event complete with hot dogs, burgers and popcorn. First movie on Monday 5 October, 14:00 start.

A huge word of thanks to Maxine Hendry and Govan Housing Association for their generous donation of £500 from their Community Fund.

Have a great weekend and see you all next week!

Welcome to our replacement 9 seater minibus! Our minibus allows us to pick up and drop off elderly/infirm veterans, support our outdoor pursuits and deliver small items when needed. In military terms it's a 'Force Multiplier'. The minibus was largely funded by a generous award from ABF Scotland and provided by AK Vehicle Rental. Big thanks to both!
