Gaza City, Saturday, 3 October
"Five people, including four women, were killed and several others injured in an Israeli strike targeting the ground floor of a building in western Gaza City.
"The strike hit only 50 meters from the residence of a Caritas Jerusalem employee and his family, bringing the devastating reality of the ongoing violence frighteningly close to our own Caritas family.
"Among those killed were a mother and her daughter who had been deeply committed to serving parishioners and displaced families seeking shelter at the Holy Family Church in Gaza. Their loss is deeply felt by a community already enduring extraordinarily harsh humanitarian conditions.
"We thank the Lord that our colleague and his family were not physically harmed. At the same time, our hearts and prayers are with the families mourning their loved ones and with all those affected by this tragedy.”
