We have some unbelievable news to share this week!โ ๐

Yep, thatโs right & definitely not a typo! This โnormalโ looking was donated into our bookshop a few months ago, was originally priced at just ยฃ3.99 & placed on our antiquarian shelf!โ ๐

However, before ending up on the shop-floor, our Thursday volunteer, Jean, spotted it & decided it was worth researching online! - It was one of the best decisions ever made as it turned out this was not just any vintage book!โ ๐คฉ

This First Edition โSelf-Helpโ book is written by Samuel Smiles & is one of the worldโs first self-help & wellbeing books that started the self-help movement! Published in 1859, this was the 6,000th printing edition, out of the first 20,000 copies of this book! - It one of those rare books that you donโt see every day!โ ๐๐๐

After researching, pricing & listing it online, it sold in just 2 hours to an anonymous buyer in London for a WHOPPING ยฃ1,500! - Itโs the largest amount of money we have EVER raised from a single book in our bookshop!โ ๐๐ฅณ
