๐ฅ๐ WHAT A WEEKEND FOR BLUEVALE BOXING CLUB! ๐๐ฅ
What a fantastic weekend at the Robert Burns Boxcup !
We entered 7 boxers this year, our second time attending this brilliant tournament, and came away with 5 wins, plenty of valuable experience, and โ most importantly โ an even stronger team โค๏ธ
DAY ONE ๐ฅ
Max was first up, facing a fantastic undefeated boxer from Shettleston BC with considerably more experience.
Max stuck to his game plan, pressed the bout from start to finish and showed great determination to get the win. A tough, physical bout, but a well-earned victory! ๐๐
Zayan then faced the English champion in his first bout at 60kg. A huge test, but Zayan looked excellent in the opening round before finding the going tougher in the second and third. Unfortunately, he lost the bout, but this is exactly the kind of experience heโll learn from and come back stronger from ๐ช
Lucas faced a fantastic boxer from Ireland in what was a brilliant bout to watch. Both boys boxed at a very high level for their age. We felt Lucas had done enough to take the first two rounds but just missed out in the third.
A fantastic learning experience and a credit to both boxers ๐
DAY TWO ๐ฅ
Kaiden unfortunately didnโt have an opponent, but a huge thank you to Ann for helping us arrange an exhibition bout.
Kaiden boxed really well and will take plenty from the experience as he now looks towards the Development Championships ๐ฅ
Young Brax was next, facing another tough opponent from Ireland. He worked brilliantly from long to mid range, boxed with confidence and came away with a fantastic win! ๐๐
Hilton then faced another brilliant Irish boxer โ an awkward southpaw who made him work hard.
After a tight opening round, Hilton came back strongly to take the second and third in our eyes. Another great performance and another valuable learning experience ๐ช
Brodie Dow faced a tough opponent from Irvine Vineburgh.
Brodie didnโt quite find his rhythm until the third round, while his opponent boxed well, moved brilliantly and landed some good single shots. Brodie eventually lost on a split decision.
A tough one for Brodie to take, but there is plenty to learn from the experience. Full credit to his opponent, who boxed really well.
Brodie now takes that experience with him as he prepares to represent Scotland at the European Championships ๐ฅ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ
And finallyโฆ Kyle!
This one meant so much to everyone at Bluevale.
Since Kyle started boxing, he has put an incredible amount of hard work and dedication into his training. Heโs been building towards his first bout since day one, and finally getting the opportunity to step through those ropes was a huge moment.
Kyle faced a more experienced boxer from Sparta in a high-paced contest.
Kyle pressed forward from the opening bell while his opponent looked to counter. After receiving a count in the first round, Kyle showed fantastic determination, stuck to his game plan and kept going.
A strong second round and a brilliant third made it a very close contestโฆ
And then came the scorecards:

The emotion and the smile on Kyleโs face afterwards really summed up why we do what we do. โค๏ธ

Five wins across the box cup, but the weekend was about so much more than what happened inside the ring.
We spent the weekend together at Southerness Holiday Park, and while all the boys box at Bluevale, one of our biggest goals is to build a real team.
Weekends like this show just how close theyโre becoming โค๏ธ
From the beach to the arcade, the boys had an absolute ball together. The friendships, memories, support and team spirit they are building are just as important as what happens inside the ring โค๏ธ
A HUGE thank you to Ann Armstrong and everyone at Doonhamers Amateur Boxing Club for putting on such a fantastic box cup. The venue, organisation and entire weekend were brilliant, and Ann deserves enormous credit for all the hard work that goes into making an event like this happen. ๐
And finally, well done to every single one of our boxers, coaches, families and supporters.
