Last day of the October Kids Café today and everyone was in a party mood! We had 28 children in total, 8 volunteers and 2 Play Assistants.

The children had fresh fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, Dominos Pizza for lunch (with vegetarian and vegan options), cupcakes and cookies for an afternoon snack, and for a special treat, a lovely chocolate Oreo cake from Cake Box on Duke Street. Each child also got a bag of groceries to take home to Mum and Dad.

For our activities today, we started by making lovely friendship bracelets that the children all shared and took home. Then we did some colouring in, made pictures of foxes from paper plates, then played musical chairs, musical statues and Pass-the-Parcel. In the afternoon we played some basketball challenges, and had a dancing contest.

Today was the perfect end to a fantastic week at the October Kids Café. Everybody really enjoyed the party atmosphere and got on very well with all their friends, learning and playing together. We look forward to seeing everybody again next time!

Day two of the Autumn Kids Café and a brilliant day was had by all! We had 27 kids in total today, 8 volunteers and 2 Play Assistants.

The children had toast with butter and/or jam breakfast, chicken nuggets and chips (or Quorn nuggets and chips for our vegan or vegetarian children), a selection of crisps for an afternoon snack, and lasagna with garlic bread (or Quorn sausages and chips) as a takeaway meal in the afternoon.

We started with some teambuilding games and group activities in the morning, and made some spooky Halloween skeletons out of straws. Later we did some creative junk modelling with paper and cardboard, and made some beautiful leaf prints with natural resources. We made some PlayDoh sculptures in the afternoon, some of the children played piano for the others, everybody placed Musical Chairs together.

All of the children had a fantastic time and played well together, enjoying all the fun activities and they behaved very well.

A brilliant first day today at the Autumn Kids Café! We had 30 kids in total today, 9 volunteers and our fantastic new Play Assistant Zaheera.

Our chef Bola made pancakes with Nutella for breakfast, chicken fillet (or a plant-based veggie burger for our vegan or vegetarian children) and chips for lunch, a selection of cupcakes for our afternoon snack and prepared a takeaway meal of mac&cheese (or Quorn nuggets and chips for veggies).

Our activities included a painting and colouring-in class, we made Autumn leaf crowns, did some Play-Doh sculpting (with glitter!), enjoyed some supervised ball games, as well as jigsaws, board games and Lego, and a lovely sing-a-long session on the piano with our volunteers Gretel and Etimbiuk.

The children all learned and played together and made lots of lovely memories, and we’re all looking forward to more tomorrow!
