Hi All, can anyone help with information for Kim, who sent us this message today...

I am currently researching my family history and am trying to trace any surviving records, photographs, or social history related to W.S. Murphy Ltd (Murphy’s Pools), which operated out of 29 Albany Street (and later Shandwick Place) in Edinburgh.
My relative, Margaret Hannah, worked for the company for nearly two decades, from 1936 to 1954. Her role was a "checker," meaning she was part of the large internal administrative team responsible for checking the weekly football coupons and calculating the dividends—especially during the intense Saturday night rushes and through the wartime Unity Pools era.
I am particularly hoping to find any photographs of Murphy's office staff, company outings, or staff socials from the 1930s, 40s, or 50s that might feature her or capture the working environment she was a part of.
Do you happen to have any photographs, oral histories, or business archives in your collection related to W.S. Murphy Ltd or the people who worked there during this golden age of the football pools?
Any guidance or leads you could share would be greatly appreciated.

"Animated scenes were witnessed in St Andrew Square, Edinburgh, this morning, when an unprecedented number of motor charabancs conveying holiday makers left for various parts of the country. Our picture shows the vehicles belonging to the Scottish Motor Traction Company and the tourists assembled prior to departure."
Edinburgh Evening News, Monday, 15 September 1924.

The monument is the Gladstone Memorial. It was erected in St Andrew Square in 1917. It was intended for Coates Crescent, but local proprietors objected to it, so it was initially put up in St Andrew Square. In 1955, it was moved to its intended location in Coates Crescent Gardens.
