The Extra Mile Project — Vector24 and the PRU going the extra mile for our Armed Forces 🇬🇧

Today, we brought together PRU Officer Commanding Steve Kemp, Temporary OC Heidi MacLeod, Bernie from Administration, Vector24 COO Leon Fisher, and Head of Outreach Operations Mike Brown to strengthen our strategic and operational partnership.

From regular visits to DCMH Loughborough and other military medical facilities across the UK, to coordinating transport and providing targeted signposting, we’re helping remove transport barriers so serving personnel and their families can access the care and support they need. We’re building stronger transport connections and more responsive ways to support our military community. 🤝

This is what going the extra mile looks like: collaboration, commitment and practical support when it matters most.

A special thank you to our funders, the Army Central Fund (ACF) and the Veterans’ Foundation (VF), whose invaluable support helps make this vital work possible. 🙏

This week we celebrated the power of true collaboration and veteran support. Thanks to John Symes, our Vector24 Outreach Support Officer for Glasgow & the West of Scotland 🫡, and Elaine McArdle from DMWS 🤝, we safely supported service user Mike 🚐 on his round trip to the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry 🏥, a journey he could not have made without us ❤️, providing holistic welfare support throughout.

This is what teamwork looks like: compassion, coordination, and commitment turning barriers into care 🌟.

We are extremely proud to stand with veterans and partners who make vital access possible.

Today we honour the men and women of the UK Armed Forces, regulars, reserves, veterans, cadets and their families for their courage, service and sacrifice, to date and beyond. 🇬🇧🎖️

After a week of Vector24 supporting and attending events celebrating our armed forces, we’re proud to show our support today on Armed Forces Day. Thank you for your dedication protecting our communities at home and overseas. 🙏🎗️

A special thank you to Elaine McArdle, one of our Vector24 volunteer outreach support drivers and an active reservist for her service, commitment and for representing the best of our community. We’re grateful for you, Elaine. 👏🚐🎖️

Colin Selley — a volunteer who goes the extra mile

Meet Colin Selley, one of our volunteer outreach support drivers and a proud ex-Royal Marine. After a hugely successful military career, Colin now gives back to the veteran community across Scotland by volunteering five days a week with us at Vector24. Calm, dependable and endlessly kind, he’s become a favourite with service users for his warmth, professionalism and his lovely top-of-the-range Mercedes, which makes every trip comfortable and reassuring. 🚗✨🪖💂‍♂️

Colin doesn’t just drive; he listens, supports and quietly goes above and beyond to make sure veterans get to appointments, social activities and vital services. Whether helping with mobility needs, offering a friendly chat or staying late when plans change, his dedication makes a real difference in people’s lives. 🤝❤️🕒🩺

We’re proud to have volunteers like Colin who bring military discipline, compassion and community spirit to everything they do. Thank you, Colin — your service continues in so many meaningful ways, and it’s only through the support of funders like Greenwich Hospital that this work is possible. 🙏🇬🇧🌟👏
