Please find below information circulated by SSE on the upcoming Aberarder Local Fund consultation. These include session dates, times and locations of drop in sessions and presentations.

The aim of the consultation is to define:

The area of benefit – where funding should be available.
Fund priorities – the issues and opportunities most important to the community.
Fund structure – how the fund should operate, including the duration of the fund and the level of funding available for community projects.

It’s important that we hear a range of views so we can design and launch a fund that suits the needs of the community. To help, I have attached some social media graphics and a poster which can be used if required.

Community Cafe - Aberarder Wind Farm Connection

Ryan Bell and Kirsty McNamara from SSE will be attending the community café on Wednesday 12th August from 09:30 onwards.

Ryan is the Community Investment Manager and Kirsty is the Community Laison Manager for the Aberarder Wind Farm Connection, and will be able to answer your questions regarding the project.

Notice to make you aware of a funding opportunity for young people who will be undertaking STEM-related courses at university or college in the coming year and who live within the community council areas of the Stronelairg and Dunmaglass Scholarship Programme (Strathdearn, Strathnairn, Stratherrick & Foyers, Fort Augustus & Glenmoriston, Laggan, Glengarry, and Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge & Achnacarry).

The programme is currently open and closes on 13th September. It offers two awards of £5,500 per year. The applications are made online via the SSE website - https://www.sserenewables.com/communities/scholarships-and-skills-funds/

Information received from SSE regarding Aberarder and Corriegarth funds:

In line with the UK Government guidance (published on 10 March 2025), the current total lifetime value of this fund is £1.05 million and is associated with the following project infrastructure:

Aberarder Wind Farm Substation – Existing Dunmaglass 132kV Overhead Line
Aberarder Wind Farm Substation
Corriegarth 2 Wind Farm Substation

The link below details the process and more information on the fund. Currently, we’re in the area research and early engagement phase and more details on the consultation will be shared in due course. The consultation will include in-person and online sessions and an online survey which will define:

The area of benefit for the fund (where funding should be available)
The priorities for the fund (what matters most to your community and how the money should be used)
The structure of the fund (duration and level of funding available for community projects)

It’s important to note that no decisions have been made regarding the structure and priorities of the fund yet - the fund will be shaped using community feedback from the online survey.

2025 Annual General Meeting - 27th January 2026

2025 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE STRATHNAIRN COMMUNITY BENEFIT FUND

You are invited to the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the SCBF Tuesday 27th January 2026 at 7pm at the Farr Community Hall.

The main points for the meeting include:

1 A report by the Chair on SCBF activities
2 Q&A session, open discussion, feedback from members

To allow the AGM to take place we must have at least 20 members present at the meeting (including proxy votes). If you are unable to attend the AGM please appoint a proxy as this will allow the meeting to proceed if we have insufficient members show.
A Proxy Appointment Form must be received 48 hours before the AGM and can be emailed to [email protected].

We had to cancel the December 2021 AGM as we failed to meet the minimum requirement so your help is very much appreciated in this regard.

The proxy form, agenda, minutes of last meeting, annual accounts and annual report are attached.

If there are particular concerns, issues, questions that you want to raise please submit these prior to the meeting so that we have time to provide a proper response. You can submit these to [email protected]. All queries remain confidential.
