The Coexist Community Kitchen is a non-profit cookery school in Easton, Bristol.

Our main passion is- everyone should be able to have spaces in which they can share food together, learn and teach skills and create strong connections with others. We see food as the most simple and easy way to support each other in building a stronger, healthier and more joyful society.

Our cookery classes are right at the heart of what we do — bringing people together to cook, learn, share skills and build connection over food. This is a 16-hour-a-week, on-site role in Easton, paying £15.50 per hour.

We’re looking for someone who:
- feels confident leading cookery sessions
- has experience across a wide range of cuisines and cooking styles
- knows how to create a warm, supportive and welcoming space

Previous experience running cookery classes is essential please!

Our Monthly Meal is back this Thursday 💛

This month, we’re so excited to be cooking with one of our amazing volunteers, Lily Stylianou, who’ll be sharing some of her most cherished Cypriot recipes with us. 🇨🇾

Expect a proper feast of stuffed vine leaves, fried halloumi pies, roasted Cypriot potatoes, talatouri, seasonal salad and filo custartd pie with fig leaf syrup for afters.

A NOTE ABOUT DONATIONS:
As always, our Monthly Meal is free to anyone who needs it. For those who are able and would like to make a donation, we are redirecting all donations from this meal to support our sister, Salha Osman, and her family, as we stand in solidarity with them during an incredibly challenging and uncertain time.

Salha is a much-loved chef, friend and member of Bristol’s food community, and her family are currently facing ongoing concerns around their safety, security and housing. She has spent years feeding and bringing people together across our city, and right now we want to stand alongside her and offer our support.

🎄 NOW TAKING CHRISTMAS PARTY BOOKINGS 🎄

It might only be September, but Christmas party planning is officially upon us… and we’re now taking bookings at Coexist!

Think slow-cooked lamb belly, whole roasted celeriac, civet of venison, mushroom & chestnut Wellington, ALL the festive sides and some very good puds.

You can come to ours and make our cosy Kitchen in Easton yours for the occasion — or we can bring the feast to you at your workplace or venue.

After something a little less sit-down-and-festive-feast? We can do that too, with Street Food Boxes and more informal party food for bigger gatherings.

Every pound you spend with us goes back into our Community Kitchen, helping us provide free food, cooking programmes, training and opportunities for people experiencing marginalisation across Bristol.

So: really good food, a table full of your favourite work people, and some good going back into your community too. ❤️

A big thank you to the lovely crew at Bristol Tree Craft for hosting us for some much-needed team time this week 🌳

If you don’t know Bristol Tree Craft, they’re a brilliant Bristol organisation using nature, craft and connection to support wellbeing and inspire environmental action. They run free programmes giving people opportunities to spend time outdoors, learn, make and connect. In many ways, they’re doing with trees and craft what we do with food — using something simple and joyful to bring people together and support wellbeing. Go check them out, they do amazing things.

They’re also home to Pearl & Barley, two truly excellent pigs who we quite simply fell in love with. 🐷🐷

For us, it was the perfect place to get out of the Kitchen for a day. To reflect on another VERY busy year, regroup around our vision and mission, and give proper time to some of the bigger questions: where are we going, what does our community need from us, and what do we want Coexist to become in 2027 and beyond?

Because if you work in a small community organisation, you’ll know: the pressure to keep the money coming in is real. To fundraise, generate income, keep the doors open, pay people properly and find the resources to keep showing up for your community. It never really stops.

Places like ours — and places like Bristol Tree Craft — survive because of truly dedicated teams, volunteers and supporters, and a wider Bristol community that believes these spaces are worth having and gets behind them. 💚

Courgettes with garlic yoghurt & browned butter

Chilli sauce
And soft fruit cobbler & custard to finish 🍑

Basically: come hungry!

Serving from 6:30pm until the food is gone.

Come as you are, bring whoever you like, and pull up a chair. Give if you can, but absolutely no pressure to do so.

A few weeks ago we took on our biggest catering job yet... and honestly? We loved every minute.

🍳 160 people.
🏕️ Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
📍 Four days.
🔥 One camp kitchen.
👩‍🍳 A brilliant team of 10

It's the kind of brief that might make some caterers run for the hills. For us? It's exactly the sort of challenge we get excited about.

We set up our glorious field kitchen, pitched our tents overlooking beautiful Bantham beach and got straight to work.

Over four days we chopped, peeled, mixed, marinated, braised, grilled and roasted our way through hundreds of meals for the incredible team at

There was amazing food, brilliant people, a few well-earned beach walks, and of course... plenty of daily swooshes (if you know, you know 😉).

What people don't always see is that jobs like this are so much more than catering.

Every event we deliver helps fund the community work we do back home in Bristol—supporting people experiencing isolation, financial hardship, poor mental health, displacement and other barriers through shared meals, cooking programmes and community.

So when you book Coexist to cater your event, you're not just feeding your guests. You're helping us keep our kitchen doors open for hundreds more people every year.

A huge thank you to everyone at Vivo Barefoot for trusting us with this important event. We absolutely loved working with you, and we'd do it all again in a heartbeat. ❤️
