✨ BIG NEWS FROM COEXIST 📣

We’ve just launched a new Crowdfunder to help us build a greener, more connected Bristol through food ❤️

We’re raising money to:

🚲 Buy an e-bike for cleaner, greener food deliveries across Bristol
🌿 Run outdoor cooking, foraging and farm sessions for people with limited access to green spaces

Food has always been about more than eating for us. It’s about connection, wellbeing, community and care, and through this project we want to make the work we already do more sustainable too.

AND there’s one very exciting extra bit...

✨ Every donation will be MATCH FUNDED by ✨ The Aviva Foundation

Which means your support goes TWICE as far.

So whether you can donate, share the campaign or simply help spread the word, it all makes a huge difference to our small community kitchen ❤️

Help us deliver food sustainably, connect communities with nature, and build greener, healthier streets across Bristol.

When most people think of Thai food, they picture pad thai or a red curry 🌶️

Delicious? Always. But Thai food has so much more to offer.

For this Supper Club recipe kit, chef Kelly is taking us north, where the flavours are bold, punchy, herb-filled and beautifully unexpected. Think spice, tang, crunch and deep umami all layered together in dishes made for sharing around a crowded table with friends ✨

Perfect for spring, the kit includes Het Paa Naam Tok — a fiery forest mushroom salad packed with fragrant herbs, lime, chilli and rich earthy mushrooms 🍄

For the full recipe, head to https://www.coexistcommunitykitchen.org/fundraise and download your FREE Thai Supper Club recipe kit!

Keeping the kitchen going takes a whole community 💛

So, we wanted to share one exciting way YOU can support the kitchen: hosting your own SUPPER CLUB 🍲✨

Running our kitchen costs over £300,000 a year, and behind the scenes our small but mighty team is constantly finding creative ways to keep the doors open and the ovens on.

Community support has always been at the heart of this place. It’s what allows us to keep showing up for people, sharing food, skills and connection.

We’ll be sharing more about our supper clubs and recipe kits, so keep an eye out!

Anyone else getting excited for the next season of harvest? 🌱☀️

Big bowls, bright flavours, new potatoes, beans, tomatoes, fresh herbs — the kind of food that tastes like longer days and eating together outside.

We’re very ready for it.

🌱 Gardening & Cooking at Trinity Community Garden 🔥🍲

We’re excited to be partnering with our friends at Trinity Centre to run a new series of outreach community sessions this summer.

‘Gardening & Cooking’ is all about helping people feel more connected to nature, food and each other. Together we’ll spend time sowing, planting and watering — before harvesting fresh produce to chop up, cook over the fire and share as a communal meal.

Thanks to funding from the Temple Quarter Community Fund, we’re able to offer six free sessions across June & July for people who are currently accessing support services, or who face barriers to accessing green spaces, community connection, or activities that support mental and physical wellbeing.

*Priority will be given to residents living within the Temple Quarter redevelopment zone.*

📍 Where: Trinity Community Garden
🕙 Time: 10am – 1pm
📅 Dates: Every Tuesday from 2nd June – 7th July

If you, or someone you know or support, would like to come along, please email [email protected] with a name and contact details and we’ll be in touch. Please also let us know about any additional support needs, including transport support, as we can cover bus fares to help people attend the sessions.

Please share with anyone who might enjoy getting outdoors, growing food and connecting with others 🌿

🍽️ GUEST CHEF WEDNESDAY 🍽️

Today’s Guest Chef is the wonderful Halise, sharing a delicious homemade Turkish lunch with us at the kitchen 💛

On the menu today:

🥘 Turkish-style meatballs with potatoes + pilaf
🥬 Spinach börek served with cucumber yogurt + pilaf (veggie)

Serving from 12:30–2pm — come by for a tasty homemade lunch and support our brilliant chef 🌿

This will be our last Guest Chef Wednesday for a little while as we work hard behind the scenes to secure funding to continue growing our chef training and employability programme. Every lunch, every plate and every bit of support genuinely helps us continue creating pathways into food, training and opportunity through the kitchen.

As a kitchen and community project, we love vegetarian cooking. It’s one of the most joyful ways to celebrate seasonal produce — good for us, good for the planet, good for the pocket, and at the heart of so much of what we do.

But with 5,000 people coming through our doors each year, and much of our work funded through catering, we do also cook with meat when it’s requested. When we do, we make sure it’s high welfare, responsibly sourced, and used with care — making the most of every part so nothing goes to waste.

Amongst our chef team, we’re lucky to have some brilliant in-house skills in butchery and nose-to-tail cooking. Recently, our chef Mel spent two days training with Sally Ann Hunt at The School of Artisan Food learning traditional whole-animal techniques rooted in sustainability, skill, and respect.

Together they broke down a whole pig and turned it into terrines, bacon, pies, sausages and more — with almost nothing wasted. Mel fed everyone BBQ Xinjiang liver and earned the title 'offal queen'. It was thoughtful, practical, deeply skilled cooking, and a brilliant reminder of what respectful meat cookery can look like.

So — still with us?

We’d love to know if there’s an appetite for a Nose to Tail cooking workshop at Coexist this autumn. A thoughtful, hands-on class exploring how to cook more sustainably, confidently, and with less waste.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, comment NOSE TO TAIL below and we’ll DM you a link to register your interest. If enough people are keen, we’ll programme it for autumn. Spaces would be very limited - so we'll let you guys know first so you can bag a spot!

Haven’t been before?

Our monthly meals are simple but special gatherings that bring our community together around the table. Once a month we pause, sit down, and share good food and good company.
