"To my Dad, who shared so much, his love of nature,
gardening, painting and music. Died of cancer 25 years ago, still missed." ~ Jan

Jan shared this heartfelt message with us on Father's Day last year, in memory of her Dad, Alex.

This Father's Day you can celebrate that special man in your life by adding a dedication, just like Jan's, to our community Memory Wall.

Share your stories, photos and memories with the comfort that you can visit them all year round 💙

The Penny Brohn UK Centre gates were open once again on Sunday for our annual NGS Open Garden Day. 🌸 We were joined by over 350 individuals (and lots of four-legged friends!), and really lucked out with a gloriously sunny day to enjoy the Penny Brohn UK gardens together! ☀️

For the first time we held our very own Mini Makers Market, with handmade fudge, crocheted items, delicious cookies, unique pottery and more! The Bristol Ukulele Club Band and The New Yorchestra 🎶 were once again on hand to entertain guests with some musical delights, while everyone enjoyed scrumptious refreshments – including cream tea, cakes as well as a cheeky sausage roll! Our fantastic garden volunteer team hosted their very own plant sale 🌱 and local wildlife screening, with footage from our very own gardens at night time!

We are delighted to announce that we raised an incredible over £5,000 on the day! We can’t thank everyone enough for turning out to support us and your overwhelming generosity.

We hope to see you all again next year! 🧡

"Being surrounded by others who truly understood the cancer experience brought a deep sense of connection, and the warmth and compassion of the staff made the day feel safe and supportive. Visiting the centre itself gave me comfort – simply knowing it’s there if I ever need it again brings real reassurance" - Milly, after attending a Cancer Support Day

Italian crumbly lemon cake 🍋

Fancy a treat this weekend? Why not try our delicious, easy lemon cake for everyone to enjoy 😋 The ground almonds give extra protein, and the lemon zest contains helpful essential oils.

Check out the recipe 👇

Ingredients:
🧈 100g butter
🥄 150g spelt flour
🌰 150g ground almonds
🍋 2 lemons
🥚 2 eggs
🍯 3 tbsp maple syrup or honey

Method:
1. Rub the butter and flour together to make a crumble mixture
2. Stir in the ground almonds and lemon zest
3. Beat the eggs in a bowl with the syrup until combined
4. Add the egg mixture to the flour and combine with a fork. The mixture will become quite lumpy - which is fine!
5. Roughly spread the mixture into a greased loose-bottomed 8" cake tin, don't press the mixture down
6. Bake at 180 degrees (gas 4) for 30 - 40 minutes until golden, brown, and firm
7. Leave to cool in the tin for a little while and then turn out to further cool on a wire tray
8. This cake is traditionally never sliced; it is served broken into pieces to share
