ACH ACH is dedicated to building a better future for refugees and migrants in the UK.

We provide integration services that create opportunities for individuals to lead independent and ambitious lives. ACH is an award-winning social enterprise providing a range of innovative and impactful support and integration services for refugees, BAME & migrant individuals. Winners of the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Promoting Opportunity 2021

Since 2008, the company is resettling over 2500 i

ndividuals yearly by providing secure housing, culturally sensitive support and vocational training (provided by its training arm- Himilo). ACH focuses on upskilling individuals and supporting them into higher-level employment to develop their independence and contribute to the wider economic ecosystem. Our campaign has been running since 2015 and was born as a reaction to the negative portrayal of refugees in the media. It aims to redefine the narrative around refugees to a more positive message of economic benefit to the UK and a positive contribution to local communities. ACH is leading the sector through cutting edge approaches to client support and integration. It is currently one of the three UK-based IBM SkillsBuild partners and blends digital projects with key research partners to accelerate an individual's earning potential, enhance employability and better prepare refugees and migrants to current workspaces.

🌿 This week’s Simple Act for Refugee Week: Connect with Nature

Nature reminds us that everything is connected. The same is true of the communities we live in.

Through our Community Climate Action project, delivered with Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership, we worked with migrant and refugee communities to co-produce a climate action plan that reflected both environmental and social priorities. Together, we explored topics including food, transport, energy, waste, nature and inequality.

Over 70 participants took part across six cohorts, and 30% went on to access volunteering or training opportunities in the environmental sector.

This week’s Simple Act for Refugee Week: Read a Book

Our team's recommendation this week is The Arrival by Shaun Tan — a beautifully illustrated graphic novel about leaving home and finding your place somewhere unfamiliar.

What makes it especially powerful is that there are almost no words. The story is told entirely through images, making the feelings of confusion, loneliness, hope and connection feel universal.

It’s a short read that stays with you.

From new arrival to new opportunities.

With the right support, Samira built her confidence, gained valuable UK experience through volunteering, and successfully secured a permanent role. 🎉

Her journey shows how the right support can help turn potential into opportunity.

Zahra secured this opportunity through our Bridge to Employment programme, designed to break down barriers and connect individuals with real, sustainable work. Through our partnership with , a network of over 80 leading companies committed to supporting and hiring refugees, we’re not just opening doors, we’re helping people walk confidently through them.

This week’s Simple Act for Refugee Week: Share Food & Stories

Food has always been one of the simplest ways to bring people together across different cultures.

We spent years supporting refugee entrepreneurs to turn cooking skills into businesses, creating space for people to share their culture through food.

This year, we’re excited to be part of the Bristol Refugee Festival with three of our traders serving dishes from Sudan, Ethiopia and Hong Kong.

Ways to act simply:

đź’› Cook, bake, gather, share and exchange your own recipes and meals
đź’› Try new foods from a culture you are less familiar with
đź’› Host or join a Refugee Week cooking event or class

⛳️ Mini-golf and good company.

Our Bristol tenants and support team came together for a relaxed day out to have fun and take a break together. Moments like this matter for wellbeing and building a sense of community.

We’re planning more days like this and listening to our tenants every step of the way.

We’re proud to share that we’ve been awarded funding as part of the new £2m government‑backed pilots designed to put more power in the hands of residents.

This funding will enable us to deliver an ambitious, resident‑led project focused on strengthening their voice and influence, and embedding meaningful engagement at the heart of decision‑making.

As part of this work, we recently recruited for a Resident Engagement Lead to lead the project forward. The recruitment process was a real team effort and reflected the values of co‑production we’re committed to.

A huge thank you to Mr Haroun, one of our residents, who sat on the interview panel and played an active role in the decision‑making process. His lived experience and insight were invaluable.
We’d also like to recognise Ellie, Head of Housing and Support, and Tina, Support Worker, who were both central to the recruitment process and helped ensure the resident voice was meaningfully represented throughout.

This is co‑production in action, and we’re excited about what’s ahead. More to come as the project progresses.
