We go above and beyond to transform the experiences patients have in our hospitals, wherever the need is greatest. And we are committed to helping our hospitals go that extra mile for you and everyone who

Deloitte have gone above and beyond – with not one, but TWO challenge events completed! 💪

From a 70km Bristol to Cardiff walk to the incredible Cotswold Way Challenge, their team have put in some serious miles to power smiles at our hospitals – raising almost £25,000 along the way 💙

“It was easily the hardest challenge I have ever done… It’s a privilege to support such an amazing cause,” said Adam Powell, who endured 28 hours of walking.

BWHC staff Elaine and Amy also joined the team for the Cotswold Way Challenge, with a special surprise visit from our volunteer Ray cheering them on 👏

A big thank you to everyone for going the extra mile (literally!) to support your hospitals. We’re so grateful for their dedication, determination and full-hearted goodness.

Sunny has been lighting up the BWHC team for two years now and what a joy he’s been!

As our official mascot, Sunny brings fun, energy and a big dose of full-hearted goodness wherever he goes.

From events and fundraisers to cheering on NHS staff and supporters. Whether he’s striking a pose or “helping out” (in his own slightly clumsy way), Sunny always puts smiles on faces 💛

Being treated in hospital can feel overwhelming - especially for patients with a learning disability, neurodiversity or autism

Across your hospitals, that’s around 5,000 patients that may face added stress, confusion and barriers when receiving care.

Together, we’re funding improvements - from sensory-friendly equipment to healing environments – helping make hospital visits calmer, more accessible and ensuring every patient feel supported when they need it most.

🧘‍♂️Supporting staff wellbeing through workplace yoga 🧘

We’re proud to be funding workplace yoga sessions for NHS staff at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

Led by Matthew Areskog Yoga, the sessions are a great way to move, unwind and reset, before or after a work shift.

One participant shared: "It provides the opportunity to unwind at the end of the working day, in a friendly, welcoming and social environment with a mix of colleagues. I feel like I’m doing something positive for my physical and mental health."

🚴‍♂️ This Bike Week, we’re celebrating our incredible supporters Kevin and Angela, who are taking on an epic 1,300km cycling challenge along the west coast of France! From Roscoff to Hendaye on La Vélodyssee, they’re pedalling to raise funds in support of our work. 🧡

Last year, Kevin underwent a double heart bypass operation at the Bristol Heart Institute (BHI). This inspiring challenge is the couple’s way of giving back for the “exceptional” care he received there.

Angela said: “During Kevin’s stay at the Bristol Heart Institute last year, we were blown away by the dedication and kindness of all staff. Every day they go above and beyond to care for their patients. We are so lucky to have this facility on our doorstep.”

The determined duo has already raised more than £3,000 – an amazing achievement! We’re wishing them all the very best as they continue their journey. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️💪

🧗‍♂️ Important update: The Big Bristol Abseil has been postponed, due to... a touch of nesty business. 🐦

A particularly determined group of nesting seagulls have decided to take up residence right on the abseil platform at St Michael’s Hospital.

While we admire their commitment to the rooftop life, protected wildlife legislation means we can’t go ahead with the event until nesting season is over and our feathered friends have moved on.

Although we’re disappointed to postpone the event, the good news is that the Big Bristol Abseil will now take place on Saturday 12th September.

There are still spaces available, so if the new date works for you, now’s the perfect time to grab your place!

As we near the end of Volunteers’ Week, we’re delighted to share a few photographs from our special Celebration Evening at John Wesley's New Room last night. Our way of saying a heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers.

The evening began with a warm welcome from our Chief Executive, Katie, followed by a quiz that brought everyone together. We then had the pleasure of recognising our volunteers with long service awards, alongside handing out thank you cards and letters to show our appreciation.

It was truly a special evening, filled with gratitude, laughter and celebration.

To all our volunteers – thank you. Your time, kindness and dedication make such a difference, and we are so grateful for everything you do. 💛🧡
