🚴Challenge complete!

A huge congratulations and thank you to Southmead Hospital’s Managing Director and Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity Trustee, Glyn Howells, and Chief Operating Officer Nick Smith, who took their cycling challenge to the next level last Sunday.

What was meant to be a 60-mile ride became an amazing 72-mile journey, visiting all 13 NHS hospital sites across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

The challenge marked our recent merger with Southmead Hospital Charity and celebrated our partnership with Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, and our shared commitment to supporting patients, families and staff across all 13 hospitals.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, the pair didn't just hit their target, they raised more than £2,300 for Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity 🎉

Thank you, Glyn and Nick, for going the extra mile, quite literally! 💙

🎉 An incredible milestone!

A huge thank you to everyone at Deloitte Bristol, who have now raised an amazing £200,000 since 2022 to support young patients at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.

From abseils and half marathons to ultra challenges and volunteering on the ward, Deloitte have gone above and beyond to make a lasting difference for children and families.

Their support has helped deliver thousands of additional learning opportunities, helping more than 1,500 young people stay connected to their education during a hospital stay and supporting a smoother transition back to school.

JUST LOOK AT THAT SMILE! She did it! Our very own Ella just took on the Big Bristol Abseil off St Michael's Hospital roof and smashed it. What a buzz.

“Nana would have been proud. She’d have given me a cuddle and said, ‘Well done, Holls.’ And she’d have laughed about the jelly babies.” ❤️

Carrying a scarf in honour of her late nana and a packet of jelly babies for energy, Holley James took on this year's Great Weston Ride, inspired by the care shown to both her nana on the Oncology Ward at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) and her dad at the Bristol Heart Institute (BHI).

Holley shared: “Jelly babies were Nana’s particular favourite, so I took some with me on the bike ride, and they really helped, especially in the trickier phases and when it was hard to keep going!" 🚲

Holley added: "The staff at the BRI were wonderful; so thoughtful to Nana and us all.

“They put up with our noisy, chaotic family taking over a corner of the ward, meaning we could surround Nana and each other with love and stories. This meant the world to us, and we really appreciate it.”

A huge thank you to Holley for going above and beyond, raising an amazing £715! 👏

Monday morning just got a whole lot better... 🎉

Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters across Bristol and beyond, we've reached our Walkerbot Appeal target!

This pioneering robotic gait trainer will help stroke survivors and people living with neurological conditions take thousands of supported steps during rehabilitation, building strength, confidence and independence on their recovery journey.

🤩Once installed, the Walkerbot will make Southmead Hospital NHS only the second NHS hospital in the UK to offer this ground-breaking technology.
