Strengthening community resilience in Brighton & Hove.

This month our community resilience partnership project focusses on terrorism. Although the risk to individuals is still very low, we’ve put together some resources to help community organisations stay alert and keep people safe. Click on the link below to find out more.

The project is run in collaboration with The Trust for Developing Communities and The Hangleton and Knoll Project - HKP. The project is funded by the Sussex Resilience Forum and aims to ensure that people in Brighton & Hove are prepared for potential emergencies and that communities are resilient.

As Volunteers' Week approaches, Mel, our Volunteer Centre Coordinator offers a big thank you to our wonderful volunteers:

“Wow what can I say, another year since last years’ Volunteers’ Week and another year of all the amazing things that volunteers do.
I hear volunteers say, 'I’m just a volunteer' or 'I’m only able to offer a small amount of time' or 'only able volunteer as a one-off'.

Well, you are not just volunteers, you are very much part of the organisation, group or activity you are involved in and every minute you offer makes a difference to them, the people you are supporting, the community and to you, no matter what you do and where.

A huge THANK YOU to each and every one of you. Keep being the amazing people you are. From me and everyone at Community Works, a personal thank you to all the volunteers who are part of our team. There aren’t enough words to express how valued everything you do is and how much we enjoy you being part of Community Works.”

We have joined community groups and charities to celebrate A Million Acts of Hope across Britain.

Organisations are invited take part in activities that spark hope. These could include community litter picks, dance and music events, workshops celebrating migration, community cafes and coffee mornings, creative walls of hope, film screenings and swap and repair shops.
