This month our community resilience partnership project focusses on the risks of traffic accidents.

Community Works is delivering this project to help Brighton and Hove communities prepare for risks they might face. The project is run in collaboration with The Trust for Developing Communities (TDC) and The Hangleton and Knoll Project - HKP.

The project is funded by the Sussex Resilience Forum and aims to ensure that people in Brighton & Hove are prepared for potential emergencies and that communities are resilient.

You may already be aware that a far-right anti-migrant march is planned in Brighton & Hove on Saturday 13th June.

This is expected to start from Brighton station and Queens Road. There will be increased police presence and this will continue beyond the weekend.

There is also a counter-protest called Carnival Against Fascism taking place on the same day in Queens Road, which some community groups are involved in.

We’d like to ensure community organisations are aware of these events, so you can advise people – especially those from minoritised communities – on how to stay safe.

Please take extra care when travelling around the city that day, especially in areas where demonstrations may be taking place. If you have staff, volunteers or people using services who are at greater risk or feel less safe, please make sure they are aware and able to plan ahead if possible.
