We are celebrating 20 years of Brighton & Hove Food Partnership 🎉👏

As today is the 20th August, we are beginning our celebrations by revealing a special birthday edition of our logo. A huge thank you to the incredible team for their continued support.

Stay tuned over the coming months as we celebrate how far our work has reached, the lives it has helped to change, the community food projects led by local people, and the lasting impact of our campaigns and partnerships across the city. We cannot wait to celebrate it with you all.

Reminder to use your food waste caddies!

Did you know that more than a third of the waste found in household bins is food?

Help prevent food going to waste. Use our food waste collections service and check out Brighton & Hove Food Partnership's Ultimate Guide to Using Food.

We collect and turn your food waste into compost and soil conditioner to grow more food.

No amount is too small for food waste recycling. Items that can go in your caddy include vegetable peelings, unpackaged bread, meat, fish, bones, cheese and cooked foods.

This month is Plastic Free July. Did you know there are more than 10,000 different types of plastic?

Through everyday choices, you can be part of the sollution to the plastic pollution, helping everyone to enjoy cleaner streets, oceans and communities.

Start with one action:
- buying your potatoes loose
- take a reusable shopping bag with you
- use a resuable water bottle or coffee cup
- take your soft plastics back to the supermarket to be recycled

Brighton and Hove now accept food trays and punnets in the domestic recycling, so pop those in next time you put the recycling out!

We're pleased to announce our second talk at Groundswell Festival next week. 
 
On Thursday 2nd July, we're hosting a workshopping event for new regenerative food businesses, or those interested in getting started, at 11am at The Workshop. 
 
Titled Regenerative Retail: Reclaim value with direct sales, this workshop has been organised by our Land Use Plus team in collaboration with the . It will pull on the knowledge of those who have already set up and run their own food businesses as part of diversifying their offering. 
 
Ben Marks of .deer.project and Katy Barker from GrowingCommunities will take you through the “scary stuff”, covering the practical side of running a food business; from Environmental Health to keeping accurate records. Practical support including templates and sign posting to resources will help you to feel more confident in pursuing a food business.

LUP Project manager Sussex Sophie and CSA Network coordinator Suzy Russell will offer tips on mobilising your community, who are not only potential customers, but also a brilliant support network which is waiting to be tapped into. This table will help you discover how to harness local skills and interests to improve your reach and grow your business.

So much of developing a long-lasting food business is in the story telling. Hollie Fallick from Nunwell Farm Kitchen and Jacob Wright from Tyninghame market garden will discuss key themes including locality, habitat recovery and nutrition, as well as offering pointers on how to find your unique selling point.

We hope to see you there; tickets are still available for both days of the event.

We are looking for an independent evaluator for our Food Use Places project!

Welcoming applicants with experience in designing and undertaking research with community organisations to provide us with an independent review of the progress / impact of the community venue element of the project.
