Friends, Families and Travellers

Friends, Families and Travellers is a leading national charity that works to end racism and discrimination against Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people and to protect the right to pursue a nomadic way of life. We support individuals and families with the issues that matter most to them, at the same time as working to transform systems and institutions to address the root causes of inequalities faced by Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Gypsies, Travellers and Roma (APPGGTR) has written to Kemi Badenoch MP in response to negative comments about Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people, and to call for higher standards in public life.

Kemi Badenoch MP made the comments during a speech on getting rid of the Public Sector Equality Duty.

To celebrate Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month this June, we are exploring what kind of future we want to build together. 🎉

This year’s theme, 'Onwards with Hope', grew out of a series of conversations and workshops involving young people from Romany, Roma and Traveller communities across the UK, as part of the co-production that takes place at FFT.

Our thoughts are with the Roma families who have been forced to endure terror and fear at the hands of racist violence in Northern Ireland. Racism must be stamped out, and the media, political leaders and public bodies all have a role to play in the fight against discrimination and hate.

A more inclusive future has to create space for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people to feel valued, respected, and celebrated.

In this video, Siân Willett, one of our Trustees and a member of the Romany Gypsy community, talks us through what she hopes for the future for .
