Yesterday was a big day for The Story Trail: a super special unveiling of a wonderful, interactive BookBench designed and painted by 8 fantastic illustrators.

The team were at the Booknookhove, along with the Mayor of Brighton & Hove, and some of the illustrators behind the the little BookBench you can colour in. There was a big reveal of the bench, as well as awarding certificates to the winners of our story competition! A huge congratulations to all of our finalists, and an extra congrats to the winners: Otto Rainey, Amelie Cooper, and Frida Stephan.

This BookBench will be located at The Book Nook for the entire trail for you to come and colour in and is illustrated by .sharratt , .stower , .liz , , , , and

We’re just looking back at some of the incredible art our young people created at our Amazing Futures short breaks holiday club in Brighton earlier this month 🎨

A huge thank you to Sinna One for helping the group get to grips with spray paint! We really loved seeing everyone experiment and express their own identities through a new creative medium.

Our young people tagged their band names, favourite football teams (Brighton & Hove Albion of course!) and favourite musicians.

Art in the park!

Amazing Futures in East Sussex had a brilliant art session this week at Alexandra Park in Hastings.

Check out some of their fantastic watercolour paintings and drawings, as well as the impressive selection of snacks!

They've got another summer meet up in a park tomorrow, so we really hope the weather dries up for them to enjoy the great outdoors.

Are you ready for The Story Trail? There's less than a month to go until you can enjoy a FREE family-friendly activity that's raising awareness and funds for Amaze.

From 12 September to 8 November 2026, The Story Trail will transform the city into an outdoor gallery featuring more than 30 unique sculptures. Plus the story continues with a heart-warming collection of smaller BookBenches, lovingly decorated by local schools and community groups, adding their own chapters to our city’s tale.

A reminder we are seeking a SENDIASS Adviser in East Sussex (closing date for applications is 11.59pm Sunday 23 August and provisional dates for interviews are 1 and 2 September).

Are you passionate about helping families with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? This is a great opportunity to join our team at Amaze where your skills and expertise can make a lasting difference by helping families to know their rights, feel less alone and get the support they need.

You will need knowledge of SEND legislation (IPSEA Legal training Level 1+) and experience gained from previous employment or because you are a parent carer.

Have you seen we are seeking a Finance Manager?

We are looking for someone to bring financial management experience and knowledge to a charity which supports children, young people and families with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Please share this post or tag a friend you think might fit the role!

As Finance Manager, you will oversee Amaze’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong financial management, working 16-18 hours/week. Applicants should have significant relevant experience in a financial management position, alongside a commitment to Amaze’s organisational vision, mission and values.

We're super excited about The Story Trail's colour-in BookBench unveilling next week!

And you can join us for free to be one of the first to see this rather special BookBench sculpture at The Book Nook in Hove. Simply register via our website: https://amazesussex.org.uk/events/colour-in-bookbench-unveilling/

It's Thursday 20 August 11am-12.30pm and there are currently 14 tickets left, so don't delay, register today.
