Are you passionate about supporting young people to thrive? Amaze is looking for an experienced youth worker to join our small but growing and brilliant Amazing Futures team, to help young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to have fun, try new things, make friends and prepare for adulthood.

We particularly welcome applicants from Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic communities, and people with lived experience of disability (either yourself or as a relative/carer of someone else).

Congratulations to Marie from Amaze and Kali Peacock (who attends our PGB group for parent carers of children with complex health needs) for both winning awards at the Eastbourne Community Awards last week!

The awards celebrate the unsung heroes who make Eastbourne such a special place. The evening, hosted by Coda Pharmacy, celebrated winners from 12 different categories and highlighted the vital, and often unseen, support that takes place across the town.

Marie was recognised in the Community Champion category and Kali recognised in Arts and Culture. Both are parent carers of children and young people with complex health needs and understand the challenges Amaze families face.

Well done to both!

We can arrange to meet you at the Hub or travel over together.

It's and we are reflecting on our Youth Voice Evening last month, where the Amazing Futures team worked with young people from Brighton & Hove and East Sussex to think about the SEND reforms, and more.

They spoke passionately about inclusion, opportunity and the right to learn alongside their peers. They told us they do not want to be separated, overlooked or treated differently because of their SEND needs. Instead, they want support that enables them to thrive, achieve their goals and feel included within everyday education and community life. Very fitting for the theme of Mencap's , which is "Do you see me?", which is all about people with a learning disability being seen, heard and valued.

You can read details of their powerful insights and views in a brilliant report on the event here:https://amazesussex.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Youth-voice-day-may-26-report-adjusted-lower.pdf

This Youth Voice report was also shared with the Department for Education, and local authority and health leaders.

Huge thanks to Amaze Ambassador, Jess Rad and The WomenHood for supporting us again with the Neurocurious event at PLATF9RM last night.

This was a great opportunity to connect with new people, tell them about The Story Trail and sign up some last minute abseilers (yes really!).

We also received over £70 donated for drinks by the attendees.

Such a welcoming, safe space for neurodivergent people and neurocurious people, were you there? Would you have liked to have been? Maybe we'll see you at the next one... Please follow The WomenHood to stay in the loop.
