🖤✨ BLACK HISTORY MONTH: BLACK ICONS ✨🖤

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on Claudia Jones — a Trinidad-born journalist, activist and community leader who made a lasting impact on Black British history. 🇹🇹🇬🇧

From founding the West Indian Gazette to organising a Caribbean Carnival in London in 1959, Claudia helped create spaces for Black voices, culture and community to be celebrated. Her legacy continues to inspire generations today. ✊🏾❤️💛💚

📚 Her story. Her impact. Her legacy.

Follow BMEYPP throughout Black History Month as we celebrate the incredible people who have shaped history and continue to inspire young people today!

📚✨ ALL ABOUT ME! ✨📚

This week at BMEYPP, our young people got creative and explored the life of someone who inspires them! 💭🙌🏾

We’re celebrating Marcus Rashford — not just for his football career ⚽️, but for his work supporting children and families, tackling child food poverty and encouraging young people to discover the power of reading. 📖❤️

A reminder that you can be more than one thing — your interests, talents and passions can all be part of your story! 🌟

Who inspires you? 👀👇🏾

OUR VERY LAST ROUND UP OF THE SUMMER 🥲🥲🥲

To end our summer activities programme with bang, we took our young people on a residential trip to Lodge Hill Centre 🤩🤩🤩

During the course of our two night stay, we stayed in the beautiful Beech and Ash lodges, and the young people embarked on multiple activities such as r***e shooting, sno-tubbing and their gladiator challenge!

Our young people also got a chance to improve their cooking skills by creating their own meals that they chose, such as making their own pizzas and beef stir fry! 🧑🏾‍🍳👩🏿‍🍳

A big thank you to Lodge Hill Centre for helping us end our summer programme with such an amazing trip, and a major thank you to our young people, who continue to show up and take part ☺️🎉

Week 3 of our summer activity programme 🤩🤩🤩

We had a high demand for our Thorpe Park trip, with 13 young people joining us on our annual trip to the theme park Thorpe Park 🤩🤩🤩 They got to exercise their independence and line up for the rides they wanted to go on such as Hyperia and Rush 🎢🎢🎢

Finally, our young people enjoyed a martial arts session with Kicks, where they learnt how to warm up, train and cool down like a real martial artist 🥋🥋🥋
