💜 Every child’s experience matters. Their voice should help shape their support.

Navigating special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to explain what your child needs.

At TLC The Local Carers Network, we help children and families share their views and feel more prepared for education and support meetings.

We can help you:
💬 Explain what’s working and what needs to change
📝 Prepare your concerns, questions and priorities
❓ Ask about your child’s needs, provision and next steps
🤝 Help your child express what matters to them, in a way that works for them

Your knowledge of your child matters, and so do their feelings, wishes and experiences.

📩 Message TLC to discuss advocacy support for your family.

Please share to help other families find support. 💜

💜 Your child’s voice belongs in the conversation.

Social care meetings and decisions can feel overwhelming. At TLC – The Local Carers Network, we help children and families feel heard, understood and supported.

Advocacy can help you and your child:
💬 Express wishes, feelings and concerns
📋 Understand care plans and proposed support
❓ Ask questions about available help and what happens next

Whether your child is in need or in care, their views matter. We take time to listen and help them share what matters to them in a way that works for them.

📩 Message TLC to discuss advocacy support for your child and family.

Please share to help more families find support. 💜

What a great idea!

We often get asked if we are still open, and the answer is yes!! We are in the process of sprucing up our building front. Updated posters in our window boxes tell you what is on and we are cleaning the shutters ready for Signs by James to come and paint them tomorrow!

A reminder that our fundraiser is still open to fund our emergency boiler replacement, sharing our fundraiser means the world if you can't donate. We are so grateful to those who have already donated 💙🎭

The Schools White Paper, setting out proposals for SEND reform, has been published today.

Our legal team is carefully analysing the proposals. We’ll share our assessment of how they will affect children's right to provision that meets their needs, and we will post updates here as soon as we can.

We understand this is an unsettling time for families. The most important things to know right now are:

🔸The publication of the Schools White Paper does not immediately change the law.
🔹The SEND legal framework remains unchanged, and all existing legal duties continue to apply in full.
🔸The proposals set out in the White Paper are subject to consultation. We will share further information and guidance on the consultation shortly.

We’ve also created a dedicated webpage on the Schools White Paper, which we will be updating regularly: https://www.ipsea.org.uk/Pages/Category/schools-white-paper-what-you-need-to-know
