We love our new home on a Monday.
1 to 1 sessions will now be held at the gorgeous Positivity Club CIC between 10am and 2pm. Another great service for children's mental and emotional health please check out Positivity club if you have not already done so .

This week Jess has had the pleasure of offering EMDR to some of our young people . Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is non clinical therapy that can help traumatic thoughts become less distressing.

Referrals are now open for our next set of one to one work and we do have spaces on the next fully funded ( Free) group. Please contact us on social media or email [email protected] with your contact details and we will send a brief referral form .

Thanks to the generous funding from Wirral CVS and The Stephen Beard Foundation , we are able to offer most of our services completely free of charge, ensuring that finances are not a barrier to support.

This project will offer a safe, non-clinical space at the RISE Young Minds Sanctuary for children and young people aged 8–17 who are struggling with their mental and emotional health.

All appropriate referrals will be offered an initial mental health consultation to ensure the service is suitable. If we do not think our service best meets the young persons needs. Then we will signpost to a more appropriate service. With your consent, if a child is already open to another mental health service, we will consult with that team and where appropriate work alongside side them.

Our next group with be held on June 23rd then Tuesdays between 1230 -230pm we are really excited to be using the gorgeous Callister Trust ,so the beauty of nature can enhance our mental health sessions. The group will run for 4 weeks , and will have a maximum of 10 children per class . The aim of the group is to equip young people
with powerful coping strategies to handle tough emotions with confidence. Young people will build their own personalised toolbox of practical skills to support their wellbeing now and in the future.

This week, Jess held the space and led a fantastic TIPP skills session, teaching the children ways to settle the nervous system for emotional regulation. At Rise, we invite the children to feel comfortable to be their unique, beautiful selves. So, it was lovely to receive feedback from the mum of a lovely 8-year-old boy who, due to ADHD symptoms, has not been able to attend school. We are so proud that he has been able to attend every session with no concerns and has asked to come again as he has enjoyed attending so much. He had also been independently using his toolkit in between sessions when he was feeling overwhelmed. In the first session, he struggled to sit still and engage in the meditation, which is fine, as we work with this. But in the following sessions, he was able to fully relax and engage in the meditation and Reiki, even falling asleep.

We still have spaces on the next group program that starts 23rd June at 1230 for 4 weeks, and some one-to-one sessions on Mondays between 10 and 2 are available. Please comment or email for referral details

Look who came and joined our circle and lay down with the children as they received Reiki and meditated ❤️. What an absolute blessing. It's week 3 of our group. One parent shared, 'I just want to thank you, as he came home bouncing, in a great mood, laughing. He said he felt so much better than before the session and found it so relaxing that he fell asleep.' This is a lovely young man who always looks visibly tense and rigid in social settings. It was lovely to see him soften and smile during the Reiki. Again, at the end of the session, when we told the children it had finished, they didn't move from the mat, so relaxed, not wanting to leave. All children were reporting regular feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, and anger. So to hear them able to share these experiences without shame with other peers who have lived experience made us really proud. Each shared that they felt better afterward and were looking forward to returning.

During week 1 of the group, we asked the children if they had meditated before and what they thought of meditation. Some had not tried it before, some thought it was boring, and others thought they had tried but not been able to do it.

Week 2, we introduced the children to grounding exercises and then invited them to a grounding meditation outdoors. By the end of the session, we invited the children to wake and greet their parents, but each one was so relaxed they did not want to move; the parents had to come and peel them off the yoga mats.

We are so proud of the children; even with uncomfortable feelings or struggles arising, they stuck with it. Many with struggles such as ADHD, social anxiety, and neurodiversity, yet they were all able to report a positive experience afterwards.

Gorgeous business meeting celebrating our wins at Rise Young Minds Sanctuary.

For the past two years, we have been dreaming and weaving together our ideas to improve the mental and emotional health of the future generation. We may have been slow and steady, but it has been worth the wait. Everything is finally falling into place, and the seeds of our dreams are blossoming into beautiful creations. We have been working so hard behind the scenes.

We could not do this without the support of our community through sharing and donations, as well as our funders.

We naively thought that funding for children’s mental health would be easy, but the reality has been a struggle.

We are incredibly grateful for the recent generous support from The Stephen Beard Foundation , Wirral CVS and the Eleanor Rathbone Charitable Trust. This means we can provide free mental health support to children and families who need it most.

Keep your eyes peeled for exciting updates on how we plan to use this funding.
