Wirral Ark

Wirral Ark Our mission is to provide resources which encourage and inspire homeless people to transform their lives.

Wirral Ark is a charity that supports hundreds of people each year who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Through our accommodation, professional services, and a compassionate ear, we help them achieve good and real outcomes for themselves.

Only 1 week to go!

We’re delighted to introduce Becky, who is taking on our charity abseil to raise vital funds for Wirral Ark.

Becky has been passionate about rock climbing for more than eight years, mainly climbing indoors at walls across the UK, although she loves getting outdoors whenever she can.

So perhaps an abseil isn’t quite as terrifying for Becky as it might be for the rest of us! Although we’re sure stepping over the edge will still be a challenge…

Becky recently graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, developing strong communication and people skills along the way.

So, what inspired her to take on the challenge?

Becky says she really admires Wirral Ark’s mission to support people in our local community and help those who need it most. She wanted to challenge herself, while raising awareness and giving back to such an important local cause.

We’re incredibly grateful to Becky for taking on the challenge and helping us raise awareness of the work we do.

Good luck Becky, we will be cheering you on next week!

Although it’s always difficult to say hello to autumn after a great summer, one thing we do like about the changing seasons is the harvest festivals.

We've been overwhelmed with generous donations in past years from schools churches and other local charities. It makes such a difference to our residents to find food donations in their cupboards and to know that the community cares.

If your church, school, workplace or organisation is planning a Harvest collection this year, we'd be delighted if you chose to support Wirral Ark. If you want to find out more about what is most needed, please contact us on [email protected].

Thank you so much for your generosity at Harvest time.

We’ve got some amazing runners taking on the Chester Marathon for Wirral Ark!

With around 6 weeks to go, brother and sister, Andrew and Amanda are preparing to take on 26.2 miles this October. Their training is well underway and the long runs will soon be peaking!

Amanda says: "We’re proud to be raising money for Wirral Ark. We are both from the Wirral and it’s where I live so supporting a local charity felt really important to us. Supporting people experiencing homelessness is something I’m particularly passionate about having focused my university dissertation on homelessness while studying in Manchester."

We want to say a huge thank you to Amanda and Andrew for choosing to run for Wirral Ark. Taking on a marathon is a massive challenge, and raising money along the way will help us continue supporting people experiencing homelessness across Wirral.

If you’d like to support them on their journey, please take a look at their JustGiving page and consider making a donation. 💚

Ted is very sad after he lost his gazebo at New Brighton today! Typical bank holiday weather at the market 😔

Thanks to everyone who visited us over the weekend and bought some Ted books. You can still buy them on our website 😃

It’s always great to get out and about and spread the message of what we do here at Wirral Ark. 💚

Less than 2 weeks until our intrepid abseilers take on the challenge at Leasowe Lighthouse! 😬

You will remember our video of Graeme, one of our support workers, with one of our former residents, Gary. They did the Cathedral abseil last year and enjoyed it so much that they are back for more at Leasowe!

Gary says: I'm doing this to give back for the help, support and guidance in my hour of need. And if it helps someone else who needs assistance then it a no brainer for me."

Graeme is back for another challenge! He knows that it all helps us provide support and accommodation to those who need it.

If anyone wants to donate to Gary's Just Giving page and help spur him on, please head here:https://www.justgiving.com/page/garychadwick
