💚 Volunteer Opportunity 💚

We’re currently on the lookout for more fabulous volunteers to join us on our Inspired Reading & Mentor Programme! 📚

Now in our sixth year, we’re proud to be working with twelve incredible local primary schools, supporting children aged 6–9 with their reading, confidence and self-esteem.

Each of our Volunteer Mentors supports three children, building positive relationships, encouraging a love of reading and helping them believe in themselves and their potential. 💚

All training and enhanced DBS checks are provided, along with all the resources you’ll need and your very own Volunteer Mentor Starter Pack ✏️📖

If you have a little time to give and would love to make a real difference to the life of a local child, we’d love to hear from you!

📚🌟 Celebrating a Love of Reading 🌟📚

Over recent months, a group of our pupils have had the wonderful opportunity to take part in the Inspired Reading Programme, delivered in partnership with The Johnson Foundation.

The programme has encouraged children to explore new books, share their thoughts and ideas, build confidence and discover the joy that reading can bring. We have been incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, commitment and determination shown by all of the pupils involved.

Reading opens doors to new worlds, sparks imagination and helps children develop skills that will support them throughout their lives. It has been a pleasure to see our pupils embrace every opportunity offered through this fantastic programme.

A huge thank you to The Johnson Foundation for working alongside us and helping to inspire the next generation of readers. We are grateful for the opportunities and experiences that this partnership has provided for our children.

Today we celebrated an amazing team of volunteers for our Inspired Reading programme. You are all truly amazing and the children are all gaining great confidence with their reading and confidence within themselves. So a huge Thank You from all of the team & Trustees at the Foundation.

This week, we're celebrating our incredible Inspired Reading Volunteers.

Every week, they generously give their time to support children across our local communities, helping them develop not only their reading skills, but also their confidence, self-esteem and love of learning.

Through patience, encouragement and kindness, our volunteers make a lasting difference to the lives of the children they mentor. Their dedication helps young readers believe in themselves and achieve things they never thought possible.

📚✨ The Johnson Foundation Children’s Book Appeal 2026 is back for its fifth year! ✨📚

This summer, we’re once again asking our wonderful community to help us inspire a love of reading in local children.
Our Inspired Reading programme is currently supporting groups of 6 and 7 year olds — and for some children, the book they receive through this appeal may be the very first book they can call their own.
If you have any new or nearly new children’s books at home that are no longer being read, we would love to give them a new home and help spark a summer full of stories and imagination!

📍 Donations can be dropped off at:
Egerton House, 2 Tower Road, Birkenhead, CH41 1FN
(Book Appeal collection box located in Reception)

📅 Final donations accepted by Monday 22nd June.
