🚨 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

🇮🇹 141 law enforcement officers injured in Italy.

🇫🇷 997 police officers and gendarmes injured in France.

These are not just numbers.

They are our colleagues. People with families. Officers who went to work to protect citizens, maintain public order and uphold democratic values — and ended up injured.

The right to peaceful protest is fundamental to democracy. But violence against police officers is NEVER acceptable.

Conseil Européen des Syndicats de Police - CESP strongly condemns these attacks and stands in unwavering solidarity with every injured colleague.

Condemnation alone is not enough. Europe must act.

This is why CESP has submitted an initiative to the European Parliament calling for the classification of assaults against police officers as a “Eurocrime”, ensuring that attacks on law enforcement officers are recognised and treated as serious crimes at the European level.

We call upon the European Parliament and European institutions to take concrete legislative action to strengthen the protection of police officers throughout Europe.

Those who protect our societies deserve to be protected by them.

CESP President Massimo Denarier and CESP Advisor Irena Ivanovska are participating in the meeting on “Monitoring and Implementation of the European Social Charter”, organised in partnership with the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe and its Sub-Committee on the European Social Charter.
The meeting brings together representatives of civil society and other key stakeholders to exchange on the work of the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR), the reporting procedure and the collective complaints mechanism, as well as on the role of INGOs in strengthening the implementation of social rights across Europe.
As one of the INGOs entitled to submit collective complaints under the European Social Charter, CESP has a direct role within this important Council of Europe mechanism. Participation in this meeting therefore represents an important opportunity to deepen engagement, exchange expertise and further strengthen CESP’s contribution to the protection and effective implementation of police rights at European level.
