📣 Record Suspension Drop-In Clinics are back at Working Gear!

We’re excited to renew our partnership with the John Howard Society of BC to continue offering monthly Record Suspension Drop-In Clinics at Working Gear.

On the last Monday of every month from 11 AM–2 PM, the John Howard Society of BC will be onsite to provide information and support for people navigating the Record Suspension application process.

We’re recruiting a Volunteer Legal Board Director to join the Working Gear Board of Directors.

We’re looking for someone with a legal background who is interested in contributing their experience to a Vancouver nonprofit focused on helping people access employment opportunities.

Board members help guide Working Gear’s governance, strategy and long-term sustainability while supporting our mission of providing free workwear and employment-related clothing to people who need it.

Working Gear is receiving approximately 3,200 fleece blankets this Friday, each around six feet long. We would love to share them with community organizations that could use them for outreach, shelters, newcomer support, emergency response, family programs, or other community programming.

Since our events take place outdoors in Oppenheimer Park, we like to offer cold treats on hot days. We’re looking for a few volunteers to help hand out ice cream, connect with community members, and support the event.

Working Gear is Looking for Space to Grow

Over the past year, Working Gear supported 2,000+ job seekers across the Lower Mainland while diverting 30,000+ lbs of clothing and textiles from landfill.

As demand for our services continues to increase, so has the complexity of our programming. Today, in addition to providing free workwear and safety gear, we deliver employment readiness workshops, mock interviews, professional headshots, barber services, job fairs, and community pop-up events.

We're exploring affordable warehouse, storage, and program space to support our growing impact.

Do you know of an available commercial, warehouse, industrial, church, or community space? Or someone who may be interested in partnering with a local charity?
