Working Gear is excited to host a Women’s Drop-In Event on June 19 to support women preparing for employment, training, interviews, and workforce opportunities.

We currently have a large inventory of women’s workwear and PPE items available, including:
• New steel-toe boots
• New business casual clothing
• Pants, tops, and workplace basics
We are especially happy to offer smaller sizes and plus sizes, as properly fitting workplace clothing and PPE can often be difficult to access.

Friday, June 19
11:00 AM – 7:00 PM or until supplies run out
This is a free drop-in event and all items will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Huge thank you to the amazing team of volunteers from who joined us on May 19 through the RBC Community Together Fund 💙

Together at our Oppenheimer Park pop-up, we helped support 190 people with clothing and essentials for work, daily life, and new opportunities.

We are so grateful for volunteers who show up with kindness, compassion, and a willingness to support the community.

05/20/2026

just the first half of May, Working Gear has already supported 221 people preparing to enter or re-enter the workforce. During the same period in April, we supported 62 clients. That means demand has increased by more than 250% in just one month.

At the same time, unemployment in B.C. remains a serious pressure. In April 2026, B.C.’s unemployment rate was 6.8%, with more than 210,000 people unemployed across the province.

Behind those numbers are people trying to take their next step. Some have interviews. Some have training opportunities. Some have job offers but still need the boots, clothing, or safety gear required to start.

That is why monthly support is so important. Employment opportunities do not arrive once a year. They come every week, often with only a few days’ notice. Monthly donors help make sure Working Gear can respond when someone is ready to work.

By joining The Crew, you become part of a community that provides that steady support. Your monthly gift helps keep our shelves stocked, our doors open, and our team ready to say yes when someone comes to us with an opportunity in front of them. It is a simple, meaningful way to stand beside people as they take their next step toward work, stability, and a better future.
