is creating moments of connection that matter far beyond the game. We’re honored to spotlight the Ireton family! Their journey is a reminder that togetherness is about more than a game. It’s about staying close to your child, close to care, and being supported by community.

When Weston was diagnosed with leukemia, the Ireton family’s life changed overnight. Living in Port Hardy, they faced long periods away from home while balancing treatment, family responsibilities, and work. Thanks to Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon, they stayed 195 nights over 21 stays, finding comfort, support, and a place to stay together throughout Weston’s healthcare journey.

We’re grateful to McDonald’s and our local supporters for helping make moments of comfort and care possible for families like theirs.

One year ago, the Ronald McDonald House Family Room at Royal Inland Hospital opened its doors for the first time - and what a year it has been! The Family Room has now seen thousands of visits and countless moments of support for families with children in the hospital.
 
Whether it’s an overnight stay, a coffee or tea break, or space to play for siblings, the Family Room helps to provide moments of normalcy for families during a hospital stay, as well as support for Interior families who need to travel for care.
