Yesterday, a record-breaking 10,300 people across BC came together for RBC Race for the Kids in support of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

From Vancouver to Victoria and communities across the province, families, friends, teams, volunteers and supporters showed up to move child health forward, one step at a time.

Whether you raced, donated, volunteered, fundraised or cheered from the sidelines, thank you for being part of something so much bigger than a run.

Together, we’ve raised more than $2 million and counting to help support kids and families across BC through the most urgent needs at BC Children’s Hospital.

To every person who joined us: thank you for helping create brighter futures for BC kids.

When Cassidy was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, BC Children’s Hospital became a source of hope for her family. From months of inpatient care to the doctors, nurses and support staff who helped Cassidy through treatment, their care has carried Team Cassidy through the hardest moments.

Now, they’re taking part in RBC Race for the Kids to help more families access the same life-saving care and support Cassidy received. “The care we have received since Cass’ diagnosis wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for events like RBC Race for the Kids.”

Not long ago, Audrey lost the ability to walk.

After being diagnosed with Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS) and later Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), she spent months receiving care and rehabilitation at BC Children’s Hospital and Sunny Hill Rehabilitation Centre.

Today, she’s walking again and bravely sharing her story to help others better understand FND, a condition that is often misunderstood, and to shine a light on the care that helped her along the way.

As a volunteer at RBC Race for the Kids, Audrey knows firsthand what community support means to children and families facing some of life’s most difficult moments.

We’re so grateful to Audrey and her family for sharing their journey with us. Watch Audrey’s full Global News feature through the link in our bio.

At the 20-week anatomy scan, Lucy’s family learned she was facing a rare tumour before she was even born.

From that moment on, BC Children’s Hospital became part of their story, guiding them through fear, uncertainty and some of the longest days of their lives. At just five days old, Lucy underwent life-saving surgery.

Today, she’s a happy, energetic little girl keeping up with her older siblings and filling her family’s home with joy

This year, Team Lucy June is Mighty is racing in RBC Race for the Kids to celebrate every milestone they once hoped for and to help ensure other families can experience the same hope, compassion and care that changed Lucy’s life forever.

June 3rd is the last chance to register for this year’s Victoria and Community races. Vancouver is at capacity, but there’s still time to support a participant.

For Kaitlyn’s family, RBC Race for the Kids is more than just a race, it’s something they can do together.

After Kaitlyn was diagnosed with BPAN, an ultra-rare neurological condition, BC Children’s Hospital became a huge part of their lives. Today, at four years old, Kaitlyn is nonverbal and unable to walk independently.

But Jessica says Race for the Kids stood out because it was accessible for their whole family.

“It seemed like a good activity that even Kaitlyn could participate in, even if she can’t walk.”

From jogging strollers to cheering crowds, the event gave Kaitlyn’s family a chance to be part of something bigger while giving back to the hospital that continues to support them through every unknown 💙

Join Kaitlyn and families like hers at RBC Race for the Kids on June 7. Register now: https://bit.ly/4tRZ1Tp

Last week we celebrated an incredible milestone with our longtime partners at Purdys Chocolatier, raising $1 million in support of children and families through their Dear Santa campaign.

For years, the Purdys team, has helped bring joy, comfort, and a little bit of magic to patients and families at BC Children’s Hospital. From special moments shared in the hospital to the generosity behind every campaign, their support continues to create meaningful impact for kids and families across BC and the Yukon.

Thank you Purdys for your compassion, partnership, and commitment to making healing brighter.

Last September, Sunny Hill launched a brand new outreach van—a fully equipped workshop on wheels, made possible by donor support.

Each spring and fall, it travels across BC to meet kids where they are, providing customized mobility equipment like wheelchair seating. With tools like a 3D scanner, power lift and a host of cutting and drilling tools, the team can create and adjust equipment right on site. And it’s making an impact beyond care too.

On the side of the van is Simon, a mighty BC Children’s Hospital patient living with Morquio syndrome. By proudly using his mobility devices, Simon is helping other kids feel confident embracing theirs.

From delivering expert care across the province to inspiring pride in every stop along the way, this is outreach in action.

For families travelling from Vancouver Island and beyond, BC Children’s can feel very far from home. But through every clinic visit, treatment day and hard conversation, Quinn’s family found something they never expected: a community that made them feel less alone.

Today, Quinn continues her treatment journey surrounded by people cheering her on every step of the way. That’s why Quinn’s Crew races in RBC Race for the Kids, helping support the same care, comfort and community that carried their family through some of their hardest days.

Every step helps kids and families across BC who rely on BC Children’s Hospital. Link in bio to register.
