Exciting news!!!

Shortly after we posted looking for a new fridge, Nella Toronto reached out and told us that Atosa USA is interested in donating one! THANK YOU to both of you for your support 🧡

Also big thank you to everyone who shared the post and engaged with it - it worked!!

The Volunteer for the Month of September is Hatem! Hatem has volunteered in our warehouse for the past two years, supporting PCFB on our busiest service day. No matter how hectic the morning is, Hatem always has a smile on his face, spreading his joy to everyone around him. He ensures our community members have what they need while waiting in line, from a popsicle when it’s hot outside to a friendly conversation to pass the time. Thank you Tito's Handmade Vodka and Love, Tito’s for your support of our Delivery Program here at PCFB! Thanks to you, we’ve been able to hire a Delivery Program Coordinator, who has been helping run and expand the program. We’ve also been able to purchase materials like whiteboards and wagons, which have made our volunteers’ lives easier! And, of course, we also had room to secure special diet items for our clients, like gluten and dairy free foods, Ensure and adult incontinence items. Your support has made a material difference in the lives of our community 🩷

Maybe you can grab one or two things for the PCFB on your next grocery run🫶🏼 these are some of our current top needed items:

- salt
- sugar
- spices (garlic powder, paprika, pepper)
- flour
- oil (for cooking - any type is great!)
- coffee (ideally ground)
- tea
- canned meats (spam, tuna, etc)
- preserved meats (pepperoni sticks, beef jerky, etc)
- condiments (ketchup, soy sauce, mayo, etc)
- sugar-free alternative milk (for diabetics - oat, almond, etc)
- fruits
- menstrual products (pads preferred)
- personal care (soap, shampoo toothpaste, baby and adult diapers, etc)
- pet food

Donations can be dropped off at 5 Brock Ave. on:
Tuesdays 9am-12pm
Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 9am-4:30pm
Fridays 9am-8pm

We want to highlight a recent donation we received!
Instead of asking for gifts for his 8th birthday party, Joël asked everyone to bring a monetary donation for the Parkdale Community Food Bank! He wrote us a letter that says:

“Dear Parkdale Food Bank,
My 8th birthday just passed. Instead of presents, I asked for money to give to you. So more people can have food who can’t afford food.
Joël”

How sweet is that? 🥹💗 Thank you Joël (and family) for this kind donation. You are setting an amazing example for both kids and adults🤍

Hello everyone! PCFB is in need of a commercial fridge like the one pictured above. The fridge will be used by our Delivery Program to store perishables before they go out for delivery! The dimensions of our current fridge are 25 1/2” by 53”, but a slightly smaller or bigger unit would also work. If you have one you are willing to donate (or know someone who does), please send us a DM. As always, thank you for having our back🩵

Are you and your team looking for a way to give back to the community in a meaningful way? Come and partake in one of our Team Volunteer Days here at Parkdale Community Food Bank! 👋

By joining us you will gain a deeper understanding of food insecurity, the barriers many face in accessing services, and how our work combats these issues. You will also actively participate in work that ensures everyone receives nutritious food with dignity — All while bonding with your team!🙌✨

When are volunteer days offered?
🗓 Tuesdays & Fridays
⏰ 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
👥 Groups of 5–15 people

What does your team get out of it? 🤔
Besides the knowledge that you have put effort into helping fight food insecurity in the community, your team will also receive a certificate of appreciation, as well as individual pins!

Your team will help receive donations, organize the warehouse, sort and bag food, and set up our grocery space, making a direct impact in our community.
