In a world experiencing so many challenges, it can become overlooked just how vital care is. In New Leaf’s programs, we create space for young people to feel valued and seen, where they can build a sense of agency, gain insights into themselves and tap into their strengths. What’s clear to us: care can be a lifeline.

This fall, we’re relaunching our community-giving campaign, Better Together, with the goal of raising $20,000 to bring our valued programs to schools, youth justice and community settings across the GTA and southern Ontario.

We’re asking you to help us make an impact in any way you can.

If there’s ever a time we needed our community to step up for young people, it’s now.

Uplift Magazine is accepting content pitches!

Uplift Magazine is a not-for-profit publication created by New Leaf Foundation. Our mission is to share articles and resources that explore greater representation and equity in the sphere of wellness—all while uplifting and inspiring readers during these tough times.

We are seeking proposals for articles and creative writing exploring what wellness means on individual and collective levels and within various communities.

Topics could include breaking down stereotypes about wellness, barriers to wellness and what’s needed to overcome them, and stories of inspiration, growth, and healing.

We will prioritize the voices of Black, Indigenous and Racialized people, 2SLGBTQ+ people, and other marginalized groups, particularly those too often excluded from dominant discourses on wellness and the “wellness industry”.

PAYMENT FOR SELECTED CONTENT is as follows:
• $0.50 per word for long-form text (up to 600 words)
• $125 per poem

PITCH DEADLINE: July 31, 2023

For months now, we’ve been hearing a similar theme when speaking with many of New Leaf’s school and community partners. The core message goes like this: “We’ve never seen anything like it.” What these teachers, youth workers, and youth themselves are speaking to is the high level of stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges they are witnessing young people experiencing right now.

May 1-7 is Mental Health Awareness Week and Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week in the TDSB. This week and for the whole month of May, we’ll be amplifying the ways our work supports youth mental health and how you can help.

If there was ever a time to help ensure more young people have access to supports, it’s now. Donate today or join our Better Together campaign to contribute monthly.

We’re looking for Program Facilitators who are certified to teach yoga and mindfulness to join our team. Requirements for the position include:

• a 200-hour yoga teaching certification
• 2 years or more of teaching experience
• experience working with youth (aged approximately 12-18)
