In Rowley Regis, England, seven‑year‑old Amelia Kolpa is living with a rare neuroblastoma and is currently receiving palliative care.

As her eighth birthday approached, she set herself a challenge: to break a UK record by receiving 8,000 birthday cards in one day.

Her appeal, shared online by family and local supporters, asked for cards rather than gifts. The response was far bigger than anyone expected.

Hells Angels biker Matt Lemm saw her story, began collecting cards at his Lockside Steakhouse restaurant, and asked bikers around the country to help.

Soon, thousands of cards were arriving from across the UK and overseas, with tens of thousands gathered at his collection points alone.

Ahead of her birthday, vans loaded with sackfuls of cards were escorted by a large convoy of bikers to Amelia’s home in Rowley Regis.

Tthe total had climbed to more than 90,000 cards, far beyond her original target.

For a seven‑year‑old in palliative care, a simple wish for birthday cards turned into a record‑breaking show of support from thousands of people she had never met. ♥

The number of children in severely food-insecure households doubled between 2019 and 2023.
This is completely unacceptable. Canadian families deserve better!
