Child marriage rates have declined globally, helping avert an estimated 68 million child marriages over the past 25 years. Yet every year, 12 million girls are still married before they turn 18.

On International Day of the Girl, young women across Africa are launching to demand stronger action to end child marriage and gender-based violence.

One year ago, a ceasefire was agreed in . One year on, it is a ceasefire in name only.

Palestinians, including children, are still being killed and injured by Israeli forces every single day. Lifesaving aid, medical supplies, and the equipment and building materials families need to repair and rebuild are still being blocked from entering.

This is not a ceasefire.

We cannot allow the killing and deprivation in Gaza to be normalized under the cover of an agreement. Every child in Gaza has the right to safety, to health care, and to a future.

The international community’s responsibility does not end with an agreement on paper. We call on the Canadian government to make protection for children and families in Gaza real.

Today, we're proud to announce Sangita Patel as Save the Children's newest Ambassador.

Many Canadians know Sangita for her work as a broadcaster, producer, and philanthropist. At Save the Children, we know her for her strength as a mother who shows up for children, and as a champion for girls' education, equality, and every child's right to a childhood.

A child with a fever. A family afraid to ask for help. A classroom that sits empty.

This is what an Ebola outbreak looks like for children. The danger isn't only the virus itself, it's everything it takes away: their health, their caregivers, their schooling, and the safety of home.

Save the Children is working alongside communities to stop the spread and keep children protected. That means helping families prevent infection, finding and referring cases quickly, sharing trusted health information, and making sure children can still access the care and services they rely on.

Every child has the right to grow up healthy and safe. Together, we can help children and families get through this outbreak and come out stronger on the other side.

Three years of war in have killed over 21,500 Palestinian children. That's nearly a full classroom, every day, for three years. Hundreds have been killed since the start of the “ceasefire” a year ago.

When the bombs stop, children still face disease, hunger, and cold.

Save the Children is there, providing healthcare, education, and safe spaces, and calling on world leaders to uphold international humanitarian law and ensure unrestricted humanitarian access.

Children in Gaza tell us what they're facing: lost schools, lost homes, lost playgrounds, and a daily struggle for clean water and nutritious food.

Save the Children is joining Nuit Blanche Toronto for its 20th anniversary! On Saturday, October 3, we're bringing the FOUNDATIONS project, funded by the Government of Canada, to Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square.

This year's Nuit Blanche theme is Tomorrow's Memories. Every child deserves a childhood worth remembering, and together we're building the foundations to make that possible.
