We can't wait to open our doors on Wednesday for our first Boutique Experience in our new space!

Thanks to so many dedicated volunteers, and after a few pilot sessions, we're ready to welcome our first group of women to our new Boutique at Yonge & College. There are still a few finishing touches underway, but we know women have been waiting to connect with career specialists, get a professional headshot, find work attire for their next opportunity, and build their networks.

We're so excited to welcome women to our new home for confidence, community and opportunity.

The Youth Career Collective started with self-knowledge, the first step in building a career. From there, participants explored the emotional side of career-building, including how to navigate rejection and uncertainty, followed by the all important topic of networking.

Now, more than halfway through the program, cohort participants are deep in their collaborative projects, building on their skills and experience ahead of the Project Showcase at the end of October. It has been inspiring to see this group come together, support one another and build confidence and career readiness. We're looking forward to seeing what's next for this talented group.

October is Women's History Month, a time to celebrate the women and girls whose leadership, innovation, and determination have shaped Canada’s past, are driving change today and are building a stronger future for everyone. By showcasing role models, Women’s History Month encourages girls and young women to see themselves as leaders and changemakers. Greater representation empowers individuals, fuels innovation, and drives economic growth.

At Dress for Success Toronto, we provide women with the work attire, development tools, career support and community they need to pursue their goals and build their futures. When more women have the opportunity to succeed, more women have the opportunity to shape what comes next.

September 30 is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a time to remember the children who never returned home and to honour Survivors and their families.

Reconciliation is rooted in the courage to listen, the humility to acknowledge past and ongoing harms, and a continued commitment to truth and accountability. Here are a few ways to listen, learn and reflect on September 30, in Toronto or from home:

Watch Remembering the Children, the national commemorative gathering, live at noon, presented by APTN, CBC/Radio-Canada and the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

Learn:
Join Truth Before Reconciliation: A Conversation with Sean Carleton, a free virtual event hosted by U of T's Rotman School of Management from 9:30–10:30 a.m (must subscribe to Rotman's free newsletter)

It's really starting to look like a Boutique in our new location thanks to our friends at California Closets who spent the day setting up our display racks.

We're so fortunate to have such generous partners willing to step in and support women on their path to economic mobility. The California Closets shelving looks beautiful in our new space and allows us to showcase the work-ready attire that can help someone land their next job or launch a career.

It was an honour to be invited as the keynote speaker at the Northwind Professional Institute Women in Financial Services Invitational Forum.

Their theme, advancing women, engaging allies and driving change, reflects the work we do every day at Dress for Success Toronto. It's so important to make time to invest in ourselves, and come together to discuss women in leadership, mentorship and sponsorship.

Huge shout out to Two Small Men with Big Hearts who definitely lived up to their name!

This incredible team moved us out of North York Center down to 2 Carlton Street in just one day - quite an accomplishment given how much we had to move! They masterfully loaded the truck so that everything fit in a single trip. Nine months' worth of clothing inventory, hundreds of hangers, clothing racks, mannequins, desks, chairs and everything else we need to create a warm, welcoming space for the women who come to us for career support, skill building, interview outfits and community.

We’re so grateful to Two Small Men with Big Hearts for making our move possible — all with smiles and a can-do attitude. Thank you for helping us create a new home where women can build confidence, connections and their path to economic mobility!

Our BMO team of volunteers helped transform our new space last Friday - it's really starting to look like our Boutique! We can't thank them enough for jumping in to do whatever was needed and having a little fun along the way.

They moved, unpacked and organized, built furniture, and even assembled and dressed our mannequins for success! It was a dedicated, efficient team motivated by a commitment to supporting women on their path to economic mobility. We’re so grateful for the time, energy and enthusiasm they brought to our new home. Thanks to this team, we’re one step closer to reopening our doors.

It's official - we've moved out of the North York Centre!

After 8 years, nearly 10,000 women served, hundreds of workshops, 20,000 hours of volunteerism and almost 200,000 articles of clothing moving through our doors - Dress for Success Toronto has left the building. We're now in our new home in downtown Toronto at Yonge & College.

With the help of many, incredible volunteers we are getting everything ready to open our doors. We can't wait to welcome women to our new space and resume our in-person programs. Stay tuned!
