Bladder Cancer Canada / Cancer de la vessie Canada We are a national charitable organization dedicated to helping bladder cancer patients and their support teams in the day-to-day issues with the disease.

Bladder cancer is the 5th most common cancer in Canada. 80,000 Canadians are currently living with a bladder cancer diagnosis and another 12,000 will be diagnosed this year. Yet, most Canadians are not even aware of bladder cancer. Bladder Cancer Canada is a nationally-registered Canadian charity (Charitable Reg. #836126060 RR0001). Our mission is to:
• Help bladder cancer patients and their support teams address the day-to-day issues of this disease
• Increase awareness of bladder cancer among the general public and medical community
• Fund research which pursues the diagnosis, treatment and elimination of bladder cancer

Nominations are officially open for the 2026 Bladder Cancer Canada Volunteer Awards!

Do you know a BCC volunteer who deserves to be recognized? Now’s the time to nominate them!

These awards celebrate the volunteers who give their time, energy and expertise to make a meaningful difference for people affected by bladder cancer.

You can nominate a volunteer in one of eight categories:

• Excellence in Support Programs

Isabelle Dionne, partagera des conseils pratiques sur les soins de la stomie, répondra aux questions les plus fréquentes et vous aidera à mieux gérer la vie avec une stomie.

It’s Urology Awareness Month!

As part of Urology Awareness Month, we’re introducing the Urologic Oncologists who will be joining us at our Saint John, NB, Bladder Cancer Education Event this November: Dr. Matthew Acker and Dr. Scott Bagnell. 👏

Dr. Matthew Acker is a Urologic Oncologist and Clinical Academic Department Head of Urology at Saint John Regional Hospital. His clinical and research interests include advanced bladder cancer care and minimally invasive robotic surgery.

Dr. Scott Bagnell is a Urologic Oncologist at Saint John Regional Hospital and an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University. His academic interests include resident simulation training and uro-oncology.

Join us this November to hear from Dr. Acker and Dr. Bagnell, learn more about bladder cancer and urologic care, and connect with others in the community.

C’est le Mois de la sensibilisation à l’urologie!

Dans le cadre du Mois de la sensibilisation à l’urologie, nous vous présentons les oncologues urologues qui présenteront lors de notre événement éducatif sur le cancer de la vessie à Saint Jean, au Nouveau-Brunswick, en novembre : le Dr Matthew Acker et le Dr Scott Bagnell. 👏

Le Dr Matthew Acker est oncologue urologue et chef du département clinique d’urologie à l’Hôpital régional de Saint John. Ses intérêts cliniques et de recherche comprennent les soins spécialisés pour les personnes atteintes d’un cancer de la vessie avancé ainsi que la chirurgie robotique mini-invasive.

Le Dr Scott Bagnell est oncologue urologue à l’Hôpital régional de Saint John et professeur adjoint à l’Université Dalhousie. Ses intérêts comprennent la formation des résidents par simulation et l’uro-oncologie.

Joignez-vous à nous en novembre pour entendre le Dr Acker et le Dr Bagnell, en apprendre davantage sur le cancer de la vessie et les soins urologiques, et échanger avec d’autres membres de la communauté.
