Bladder Cancer Canada / Cancer de la vessie Canada We are a national charitable organization dedicated to helping bladder cancer patients and their support teams in the day-to-day issues with the disease.

Bladder cancer is the 5th most common cancer in Canada. 80,000 Canadians are currently living with a bladder cancer diagnosis and another 12,000 will be diagnosed this year. Yet, most Canadians are not even aware of bladder cancer. Bladder Cancer Canada is a nationally-registered Canadian charity (Charitable Reg. #836126060 RR0001). Our mission is to:
• Help bladder cancer patients and their suppo

rt teams address the day-to-day issues of this disease
• Increase awareness of bladder cancer among the general public and medical community
• Fund research which pursues the diagnosis, treatment and elimination of bladder cancer

Al never expected to hear the words "you have bladder cancer," nor that he would later face a recurrence and receive a diagnosis of metastatic bladder cancer. Al met every obstacle with determination and says that he's back to feeling great.

Join us for an upcoming presentation during the Together Through Treatment – Caregivers Support Group Meeting.

During this interactive session, Christine Fader will share her family’s experience navigating bladder cancer, including how past trauma shaped the experience of diagnosis, treatment decisions, and caregiving. Through her personal story, Christine will provide insight into the ways previous trauma can impact both patients and caregivers throughout a cancer journey.

This session is an opportunity to come together, hear from someone with lived experience, and connect with others who understand the challenges that come with supporting a loved one through cancer.

BCC out in the community 🤝

Over the past month, Bladder Cancer Canada has been busy connecting with people across the bladder cancer community and beyond.

On June 11, BCC volunteer Alex H represented us at the 2026 Seniors Kick-Off Event, hosted by Age-Friendly Hamilton. The annual event brought together 70 exhibitors for an information and wellness fair, along with presentations, entertainment, a light lunch, and more. Alex was there to connect with attendees, share information about bladder cancer, and highlight the resources and support available through BCC.

On June 23, we also hosted our Bladder Cancer Education Event in Saskatoon. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jana and Dr. Iqbal for their informative presentations, to Audrey for sharing her story, and to Gabriel for helping at the registration table. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us for an evening of learning and connection.

From June 27-29, BCC staff attended the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Urological Association (CUA). This annual meeting brings leading experts from across the country together to share insights and discuss the latest advances in urological care. We were grateful for the opportunity to attend informative presentations and build connections with others in the bladder cancer community.

We’re grateful for every opportunity to connect with our community, share information, and support those affected by bladder cancer.

CVC dans nos communautés 🤝

Au cours du dernier mois, Cancer de la vessie Canada a été très actif afin de tisser des liens avec les membres de la communauté.

Le 11 juin, notre bénévole Alex H a représenté CVC lors du Seniors Kick-Off Event 2026, organisé par Age-Friendly Hamilton. Cet événement annuel a réuni 70 exposants dans le cadre d’une foire d’information et de mieux-être, en plus d’offrir des présentations, des activités de divertissement, un dîner et bien plus encore. Alex était sur place pour échanger avec les participants, les renseigner sur le cancer de la vessie et leur faire connaître les ressources et le soutien offerts par CVC.

Le 23 juin, nous avons également organisé notre événement éducatif sur le cancer de la vessie à Saskatoon. Un grand merci au Dr Jana et au Dr Iqbal pour leurs présentations informatives, à Audrey d’avoir accepté de raconter son histoire et à Gabriel pour son aide à la table d’inscription. Nous sommes reconnaissants envers toutes les personnes qui se sont jointes à nous pour cette soirée d’apprentissage et d’échanges.

Du 27 au 29 juin, des membres de l’équipe de CVC ont participé au congrès annuel de l’Association des urologues du Canada (AUC), qui rassemble des experts de partout au pays pour discuter des plus récentes avancées en soins urologiques. Ce fut une belle occasion d’assister à des présentations informatives et d’échanger avec d’autres membres de l’Association.

Nous sommes heureux de pouvoir continuer à créer des liens avec notre communauté, à partager de l’information et à soutenir les personnes touchées par le cancer de la vessie.
