This summer, Girl Guides from coast to coast have been showing up, celebrating, and spreading joy at Pride parades across Canada.

Most recently, our members took to the streets of Vancouver, marching with pride and demonstrating our commitment to creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

Ever picked berries fresh off the bush and turned them into jam on the spot? 🍓

Yeah. That’s just an average day at Girl Guides.

These campers in Sylvan Lake spent the day at Jungle Farm, picking fresh strawberries, making their very own strawberry jam and taking a wagon ride around the farm to taste fresh veggies along the way.

And while the jam was definitely a highlight, they were learning way more than a new recipe.

They were:
🍓 Building confidence by trying something new (and getting a little messy!)
🫙 Learning practical skills they can take home and use again
🌱 Connecting with where food comes from and getting curious about the world around them
🤝 Working together and sharing the job of turning a basket of berries into something delicious
💡 Problem-solving when things don't go exactly according to plan
✨ Discovering that "I don't know how to do this" can turn into "wait...I actually did it!"

Girl Guides from Nanaimo, BC trekked their way to Toronto this summer! Amongst the many sites to see was Casa Loma, which is home to a Girl Guides exhibit!

Did you know Lady Pellatt, Casa Loma’s original owner, was the very first Chief Commissioner of Girl Guides of Canada back in 1912? She loved welcoming Guiding groups to her home and gardens, and her legacy lives on in a special exhibit that’s been there since 1973.

An unforgettable adventure for a group of Girl Guides who travelled to the WAGGGS Kusafiri World Centre in Ghana to celebrate its 15th anniversary!

The week-long experience was filled with friendship, service, learning, and cultural exchange. From leading activities at the New Horizon Special School and donating supplies to community partners, to learning African dance, drumming, and traditions, participants experienced firsthand the power of the global Guiding movement.

A special shoutout to Guide Freya, who went above and beyond by gathering generous donations from her school, local businesses, friends, and family, and bringing two whole suitcases of helpful supplies to Ghana!

Her mom and Guide leader, Fenrose, says:

"She was able to collect two suitcases full of donations and transported it with us to Ghana. She presented to Janet, the chief commissioner of Ghana Girl Guides association, Zakiya, former chief commissioner of Ghana Girl Guides association, and Vanessa and Michelle, program facilitators."

The Canadian delegation also enjoyed International Night, where participants from around the world shared their cultures through displays, presentations, dancing, and badge swapping, creating friendships that crossed borders and continents.

💙It's amazing to see all the places Guiding can take you. International travel experiences like this one offer girls and volunteers the chance to connect with different cultures, build global friendships, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Earning your Canada Cord + Gold Awards in style!

Congratulations to our members celebrating this achievement in the UK at Pax Lodge!

Congratulations to JTL participants from 61st UK independent group Girl Guides of Canada on their Canada Cord for Pathfinders and Gold award for Rangers. Thank you for sharing this special moment with us!

The gold award is the culmination of a Ranger’s work as a youth member. The award recognises outstanding achievement and commitment to the vision, mission and values of Girl Guides of Canada.

The Canada Cord can be earned by Pathfinders. It encourages girls to meet new people, learn more about themselves and their abilities, and puts their leadership skills into action.

The parade may be over, but our Pride never stops 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Girl Guides in Toronto marched proudly in the annual Pride Parade last month, and were even joined by Mayor Olivia Chow! And yes, of course they gave her a crest!

Ever wondered what 4,000 boxes of cookies looks like? Well, here you go!

Last month, CUPE4000 ordered 4,000 boxes of Girl Guide cookies for staff appreciation week! Ottawa Pathfinders were more than happy to provide, and helped hand out boxes at the different hospitals and clinics CUPE4000 represent.

Nothing celebrates teamwork quite like cookies! 🍪
