Like so many in the cancer community, we are stunned and heartbroken by the news that Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto has ceased operations, effective August 21, 2026, after nearly 25 years of serving individuals and families impacted by cancer.

Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto has been a valued partner of Childhood Cancer Canada and, most importantly, a place where the families we support could find understanding, connection and community during some of the most unimaginable moments of their lives.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we directly supported a record 1,260 families nationwide as they navigated the emotional, financial and practical challenges of childhood cancer.

Back-to-school looks different for kids with cancer.

For most kids, September means new classrooms, new teachers, backpacks and first-day photos. 🎒

But when your child has cancer, the first day of school can look incredibly different.

It can mean a hospital room instead of a classroom. Treatment instead of time with friends. Missing milestones, navigating uncertainty, and trying to hold onto the moments of childhood that cancer has interrupted.
