All smiles at the Study and Stay NL Cohort 9 Graduation!

Congratulations, Cohort 9. What a year it has been. You came in as international students, and you leave as professionals, with the skills, the networks, the mentors, and the friendships to prove it. The ocean is wide. Go make your mark on it.

None of this happens without the people who show up. Thank you to Tanya Davis, Dr. Ruth Murambadoro, Azmat Ullah, and Ahmad Deeb, for celebrating with us. And to mentors Danny Reid, Mona Maadani , PhD, P.Eng, and Dafna Ziv for walking alongside our students every step of the way.

To everyone who was part of Cohort 9: this wouldn't have been possible without you. This was yours too.

The best is still ahead, and we'll be rooting for you.

If Day 1 was about pitching ideas and making connections, Day 2 of SEED Conference 2026 was about putting down roots.

Our Cohort 9 spent the day exploring what it really means to build a life and career in Newfoundland and Labrador. From career-building insights to a guided tour through the heart of NL, the day was a reminder that staying here is not just possible, it can be extraordinary.

A sincere thank you to Dafna Ziv, Adetunji Gbadebo, Xingbang C., Centre for Newfoundland Studies, Laura Bonnie Morgan, Sara Benoit, Liam Thomas Clancy, and Sanjana Khan for sharing your time, stories, and expertise with our students.

Two days, one cohort, and that's a wrap for this year's SEED Conference 2026.

Your journey doesn't end at graduation - it inspires the next generation.

If you're a Study and Stay NL alumnus, we want to hear from you.

We're working on an Alumni Impact Storytelling project to document the real journeys of our program graduates, the career wins, the challenges overcome, and the memories made along the way.

It starts with one simple step: filling out our "Share Your Journey" questionnaire.

Selected participants will be invited for a short interview and will receive an honorarium as a thank-you for their time. Their stories will be shared across our network and platforms

Your story will:

► Inspire current international students still finding their footing

► Be featured in our upcoming Alumni Impact Report

► Appear on our new Student Success webpage launching July 2026

Share Your Journey ☛ https://forms.gle/xPxBBCppfBPUEzN69

We're proud of every graduate who chose to build their future here in Newfoundland and Labrador. Now let's make sure the world knows about it.

Mentorship is an important component of the Study and Stay NL program, because international students are still learning the way things work in the various different industries they hope to work in.

Today's group mentorship session was definitely a hit, with the students asking for another chance to learn from our mentors: Samu Chitsike CPA,CA and Kwadwo Ampofo.

As leaders in their professions, they brought both compassion and lived experience to the session. They shared unique stories from their professional journeys, and inside the breakout rooms they answered the students' questions and dropped key insights into how other newcomers can build careers in the corporate sector.

We really loved this experience and look forward to creating more opportunities for mentors in different fields and professions to pour into our students.

Today marked the conclusion of our 7-part preparation journey with the Entrepreneurship Track - Cohort 9 participants. Over the past two months, Cohort 9 has shown outstanding dedication, creativity, and collaboration - culminating in today’s final session.

A special thanks to Carol Bartlett (She/Her/Hers) 🏳️‍🌈, who expertly facilitated these sessions and played a key role in guiding this journey.

Now, it’s time for the next step - Applications for the SEED Competition.

Participants will now turn their ideas into applications, with shortlisted candidates advancing to the competition during the SEED Conference 2026 and competing for a $25,000 prize pool.

And if you’re wondering what goes on in our sessions… one minute it’s real-world problem-solving, the next it’s (an exercise on) designing raincoats for giraffes 🦒🌧️- because the best ideas often start a little unexpectedly.

Excited to see our students bring their ideas to life.

Twenty sharp minds. Big early ideas. Even bigger questions.
