The Gathering Place is a community health centre committed to building community, promoting equality, providing nourishment and critical healthcare.

Capital Auto Group, through the support of Capital Ford, is proud to partner with The Gathering Place and their project with the City of St. John's and AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador (ACNL).

We’re proud to support their newly launched program called Pitching In. Our 2027 Ford Explorer will help transport teams around the city in this 4-month pilot project, and help provide enhanced cleaning in the downtown area of St. John’s, while creating meaningful paid employment opportunities for Guests of The Gathering Place.

Through this partnership, we’re helping support a cleaner city while creating opportunities for individuals to build skills and take meaningful steps toward employment.

We’re thankful that the Patten Foundation (Harvey's Oil) has once again sponsored and will be volunteering at our Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner on October 9 (11:30am-1:00pm).

To help with flow of service, Guests are asked to register for the meal starting at 11am on Oct 9 on 2A.

Today was the announcement. Tomorrow, we'll make an impact.

In collabroation with City of St. John's and AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador (ACNL), we launched Pitching In today, a program that creates paid employment opportunities for Guests while helping keep downtown St. John's cleaner.

Too often, conversations about homelessness, mental health, and addiction focus on what people are doing wrong. We'd rather focus on what people are doing right and the next steps they're taking toward stability.

Every shift worked, every skill learned, and every step toward employment matters. Through training, peer support, and hands-on experience, Guests will have the opportunity to build confidence, develop workplace skills, and create pathways to future employment, all while helping make our downtown cleaner.

Because every step toward stability is something worth supporting.

Thank you to the City of St. John's and AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador (ACNL) for working alongside us to make this pilot possible.

The Canadian Insurance Accountants Association (CIAA) believes that when they gather in a community, they should leave it better than they found it.

At this year's annual conference in St. John's, CIAA members put that value into action, raising $10,000 for The Gathering Place.

Andrew Holm, Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives, attended the event to accept the donation and share how support like this helps The Gathering Place continue to make a positive impact in the community and support Guests on their journey toward a brighter tomorrow.

Because of your incredible kindness, we’re able to pause clothing donations, with an update on or before October 12, 2026. 💙🩵🧡

Our team is carefully organizing the many generous clothing donations we’ve received so they can reach the right people at the right time. This pause helps us do that work with care and intention.

While we are unable to accept clothing and general items right now, we’re still welcoming some high-need items:
